POSITION

This position is an excellent opportunity for a self-directed Technical Writer who has great knowledge or experience in producing both print and online documentation of software or IT related systems. As a member of our Engineering Services team, you will work as part of a team towards facilitating the communication of technical ideas and information from our Engineering division to our technical support teams and vast audience of experienced technical customers. You will work directly with members of our Engineering and Technical Support teams in identifying areas of required documentation, preparing, prototyping, illustrating and publishing these documents in our custom online documentation system. This position requires flexibility, time management, excellent oral and written communication skills, an understanding of a technical audience, and the ability to attach an appropriate perspective to technical information.

REQUIRED SKILLS


* 2+ years technical writing experience
or
* Degree in technical writing, computer science or engineering

* Excellent planning, research, and writing skills
* Knowledge of all phases of the publications-development life cycle
* Experience documenting software for a technical audience
* Organized self starter with proven time management skills
* Experience dealing with developers and engineers


ADDITIONAL ASSETS


* Proficient with standard publishing tools such as Visio, Photoshop and Captivate
* Knowledge of mark-up languages such as HTML
* Technical knowledge of Linux, IT methodologies (backup, user management, security, networking, etc) is a strong plus.
* Understanding of revision management systems such as Subversion, CVS, etc
* Experience with bug tracking and/or helpdesk software
