Thnx for all the links and info.
I also checked with recently arrived doctor couple on a fellowship. They said getting residency for a family physician is no issue. However, getting into a specialist stream like gynac is very dificult in Canada.
I won't say that getting residency even into family physician stream is "no issue" or easy. There are many more IMGs (International Medical Graduates) than the residency positions available. Number of residency positions available for IMGs have gone up since 2001. IMGs also include Canadian born & educated students who went abroad to study medicine. They secure a disproportionate number of residency seats as compared to other IMGs. It is easier to get a residency position in US than Canada.
Does the same rules apply for Dentists(BDS from India) or is it easier to get some kind of certification/accreditation and work in Canada?

How about Michigan? I know many indian doctors who are settled in US came initially to Detroit for residency. I also understand that writing exams for getting into residency in Us is much easy than in Canada. Would you mind giving me your e-mail address so that I could gather more information about residency in US V/s residency in Canada.
I am not into health-science field and really does not understand much in the field. I am inquiring on behalf of my niece who would be completing her MBBS shortly.
