I need career guidance/suggestions from fellow senior desis about the scope of Accounting in Canada. I have done M.Com from India and I am in my mid twenties. I worked in India for about couple of years after my B.com and then did my M.Com got married came here in Canada. What courses should I go for there is a lot of confusion going in my mind wrt to going for Collage studies in Accounting or going for University or doing few refresher accounting software courses. My husband is very flexible in terms doing studies in whatever field of study. He has asked me to do my own research in whatever field I want to study. I thought let me through questions in Canadian desi also I visiting websites of few collages around GTA and university. Thanks for your suggestions.

Have you gone through job ads for various types of Accounting positions>??
Accounting is a very broad Occupation and there is demand for professionals in the Accounting field all over the country. What you need to do is define your scope of practice.
For example - do you wish to do a professional designation ie/ CA, CMA, CGA? Each province has an association that will tell you what courses you need or exams to pass for a designation. Having adesignation generally leads to more job stability however requires at least 3-5 years of experience. I dont know if it ihas to be Canadian experience however you will need to demonstrate knowledge of accounting software and Strong business communication skills.
If you wish to find an accounting job without a designation there are plenty of those also. What province are you in??
