Any good recommendation on which company to go with ( eg. ADT, Brinks, AlarmForce etc ) .. Please share your good/not so good experiences for the benefit of others...

Also what effect does it have on your home insurance ...

Thanks

I would recommend AlarmForce because of its two way communication where a real person calls thru the unit and not only on the registered phone numbers. They also had an additional feature called Alarm Plus that works for upto 4 hrs when there is no electricity
AlarmForce unit also works with the VOIP technology phones like Vonage etc (you just need to make sure that the technician who comes in to install is adept at setting it up right)

Make sure you do test your unit once a month to see if everything is working just fine..

Insurance wise I think the premiums are lowered a bit if you have an alarm system installed.

At the end of the day I view alarm systems as a psychological security more than anything else.

Also though not related, I would suggest all to have a home insurance even if you are renting because with the crime rate it is a good backup for a minimal amount..also keep all you valuables in a bank locker..it is worth it..i learnt it the hard way.

Good luck!!

We use Chubb which is known for their business installations more than home installations. The reason we went with them is because they have their own company doing the installation and monitoring rather than a third party associate.
ADT and Alarmforce are by far the most popular. Another thing is, you could list a few companies based on what folks here say and call them for free consultation. An agent will come to your place and do an evaluation. Based on how many contacts you need etc, he/she will do a pricing for you. They may coerce you into going for their company. You can always say no of course.
