My friend is just about to quit from his job. He can't deal with the stress and the long hours of the job.

Working for Big 4. It certainly isn't as wonderful as it sounds. Unless you are at the partner level. But you'll have to be a shrewd corporate politician and great salesperson to get to a partner level.
Anything below that is brutal exploitation. I used to earnestly work for a Big 5 several years ago and they would just focus on one thing-exploit you.
I would frequently put in 80 hour weeks and there were occasions when I worked for 24 hours straight...Now I look back at those days and laugh at my naivete. Why was I doing that? You are much better of doing that much work for yourself. If not that, it's better to work for the government and at least collect a pension and enjoy a nice quality of life.

But that's the take of a wiser and experienced man who was once exploited by a big 4 firm.
