Hi All
I have a client who has MCSE CNA etc and a Microsoft Operations Management training, Network plus certification, Server Plus certification. All these along with 10 years of canadian experience in IT Management and Network Administration.
He indicates that employers do not want to hire him due to lack of certification (ie/ college diploma or university degree in computers).
Can anyone shed light on this? If you know about the market in BC. Does this individual need more training or not? his career goal is Network administration.

Although I cannot comment on the BC market, but for Toronto, he seems to have the right skills to work in that profession. You mentioned that he has 10 years of Canadian experience too. Did he get laid off, or was he contracting. Are his certification uptodate
I've listed below some of the reasons why employers would not hire. These are actual reasons, but since they do not want to come in the open (me included), some silly excuse is given ie lack of certification.
* Lack of communication skills
* Lack of interpersonal skills
* Racism
* Appearance
* Age
* Lack of knowledge (sometimes even with certifications, a lack of knowledge is exhibited)
* A narrow skill set, ie limited knowledge of only certain technologies
I'm sure since you've met the client some of the above can be discounted in this particular case.
His best bet would be to contact an agency. These guys get the actual reason from employers, provided they are willing to share the info. with the candidate.
Would be interested in knowing what the actual reason is once you or your client finds out

I too belong to network administration field and having CCNA,CCNP, RHCT, SCA Certification and 6 yrs of experience.
But dont have Canadian experience and education . Just arrived here two days back ...
Could you help me to get a job ?
