CD's,
A family member of mine has Dental insurance but is not prepared to go through the hassles of his teeth X-ray'ed / mould of teeth made in the first visit. He now has cavities in his rear teeth and which needs urgent filling / cleaning.
Do CD's know of any Walk-in Dentist working on Saturday or Sunday who can clean and fill the teeth in the first visit itself?
I along with the family member know of a Dentist near our home but that practice always grabs money and goes through the process of X'-raying the teeth during the first visit.
We prefer practices on the West end of the city incl. Mississauga. (We donot prefer Scarborough)
Thanks
TK A

I think most dentist if not all, will x-ray the teeth. Firstly (and most importantly) to find out the extent of the damage, cause thay have to drill according to the depth, and secondly (which is equally important) to make money. I remember when I was getting my root-canal done, he was actually measuring the depth on the x-ray with the needle. Besides if it is one of the tooth at the back, they also have to determine which & how many canals are to be opened.

PS: My profession is no where close to a dentist, hence you may find my language very un-medical (??)

Dental X-rays are taken to confirm provisional diagnosis made on clinical symptoms presented by clients.
It is used as a tool in RCT to assess working rootcanal length, shape of root canalany abnormal shape in root extra roots etc etc.
It is also used as evidence in cases of litigation.
Hence X-rays are not taken just to make money...
If the dentist decides to take x-ray let him justify it as laws governing are in place in many parts of the world ..I am not sure about canada but there must be regulations to the same effect..and if proved that dentist is abusing this tool he can be sued .
P.S. I am from dental background from India.

I know one dentist on Danforth Ave. near Donlands subway. He is available on Saturdays also. His name is Dr. Asaad and the thing I like most of him is his honesty and skills. He will give you his honest advice irrespect of you are willing to treat yourself with him or not. Also he is not greedy and never ask for unnecessary treatmrnt but as for as X ray is concern it is necessary to check the teeth properly before treatment and it is not possible without x ray.
