Hi people, like many other guys I am computer engineer from India. I Graduated in 2002 worked 1 year in India and then immigrated to Canada in 2003. Since then i am doing out of field job, i send my resumes to too many agencies, companies, monster but no answers. So i am frustrated now as what to do, how to break in. I am planning to start part time courses like Oracle, VB.net etc. But i know unless and until i dont get an internal reference i wont get a job. Can somebody please help me.

Find out if there are any IT professional Associations and join one. Attend workshops/seminars and get known in the 'community'.
Read Business section of news paper and readup on companies that are mentioned. Check out their websites and contact HR departments to determine if they are hiring.
Do not focus soley on an internet job search.
Assess your skillset - do they match current requirements by employers?
