Hello Dear Cd's
I was wondering if anyone here has done Six Sigma. Perhaps a Green belt or higher. I would be keen to study the methodology and wonder if any one can guide me.
Thank you in advance.
ASQ offers six sigma training and certification for both green and black belts. For info you can visit http://www.asq.org" rel="nofollow">LINK
In short, six sigma plainly deals with a systematic approach to problem solving - the approach where the "DMAIC" steps are followed - Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control.
Define is where the scope of the issue is defined in terms of the equation y= f(x) where the impact "y" is a result of factor(s) "x". In other words, as an exmaple, production scrap (y) is caused by undersized diameter (x). The idea is to determine the root cause for this undersize diameter.
Measure collects data for Measurement Systems Analysis (gage R&R), for mutivariate studies and for measuring or scoping out interaction effects due to different production shifts, different machines, different operators, different days, etc etc. Also, you do Cause and Effect analysis through flow diagram and stuff.
Analyze uses tools such as Design of Experiments, ANOVA, f-tests, t-tests, hypothesis tests, etc to come up with the root cause variable.
Improve eliminates the root cause and solves the problem.
Control provides a methods to sustain the improvement over the long term.
