........the city from where this survey originated is the most "ignorant" city...........

I want the cultures of all the lands to be blown about my house as freely as possible.
But I refuse to be blown off my feet by any.

For someone who ranks Toronto has the 3rd polite city hasn't driven on 401 & DVP during rush hour :)

And for holding the door open - I believe there is some physics involved with it.

My take

Normally, all the public buildings in TO are equipped with two doors. You require a considerable amount of physical force to operate these doors. The reason is those doors provide a seal against harsh cold winter winds and also protect heat/AC from escaping out.

Also, when you enter in building, normally there is a passage between first and second door, so that you can wipe snow/water/dirt off your shoes and enter the building with clean shoes. This passage also acts kind of insulation buffer between atmosphere and building.

While in India, we have a practice of leaving door open to facilitate the movement of air, unless the bulding happens to be airconditioned. Even in homes, keeping your door closes is kind of rude behaviour, as it mean you do not like strangers/guests/neighbours knocking your doors. It is only the private offices of metropolis/big cities that are centrally air-conditioned. So the concept of holding door open does not really fit in Indian scenario

You cannot look into the eyes (eye contact) of the lady you are talking with., forget about shake hand, in many parts of India. Otherwise you are rude.

Walking with open and pierced bellies, noses, tongues, lips, ears, eyelids, trousers below … and tattoos on ……, the figures will be upside down from average Indian majority point of view. How ridiculous would it be in India if I thank the bus driver while getting off the bus?

I am Canadian ,only when i am in Canada.
