Where does sport jacket stands ?
I mean, does it convey professional message ? or .. Hey, I'm professional but I-don't-care-much type of message ?

I had a job interview with a recruiting company a little while ago and the attire for everyday work was business casual as is the case I suspect in most office environments..but this place had an actual sign saying to please kindly refrain from wearing any scent or perfume...
Has anyone else come across a company that has a similar policy?
I thought it was a bit bizare, but I can see how one can be distracted by an overpowering frangrance. I guess it is a form of air pollution.

My 2c on this:
1. Use a deodorant before u go to an interview. When using perfume, follow morning_rain suggestion. That's a good example.
2. South indians, at least on that day please dont rinse your hair with coconut oil. No one wants to see it coming down the face.
3. Don't chew gum or a gonkura pickle. That's awful.
4. If your face looks oily on normal occasions (like me on the nose and forehead), then have a very thin layer of talcum powder (just for the interview)

Good points in the previous post by Desi in Ottawa.
Here's a couple of other suggestions that can help your chances in an interview. Hate to say it, but looks play a vital part in an interview....it is after all first impressions that stick.
1. Clean and manicured nails. I'm not talking about men getting a french manicure but neatly trimmed is good and ladies, it's not about having long scarlet painted nails either. Subtle does the trick.
2. Hair. Have a cut or trim a couple of days in advance if that's possible. Refrain from dying as the colour may go wrong and you might not have enough time to make it right. Also avoid drastic cuts. Guys, if your hairstyle is long, tie it back or wear other attire (not a cap!) that keeps it under wraps.
3. For the ladies, as with the nails, a nice clean, fresh look when it comes to make-up - don't pile it on.
4. Shoes. Polish and shine and buff!!
That's all I can think of right now. Oh, one more thing...
It's really a good idea to invest in a really good looking and fitting pair of black pants/skirt suit and white shirt/blouse as these are the classics everyone should have in their wardrobe and come in handy time and time again.
Hope that helps someone.
