My experience in using the services of WAFY:

My target was in the financial sector as a financial services representative as I have just finished my CSC.
My resume along with a cover letter was sent out on Sunday. I received about 80 auto replies and thank you notes. 35 mails were undeliverable. I received a couple of calls on Monday from insurance companies who want me to work on full commission basis, which is not what I intend to right now. I received 3 calls on Tuesday again from organizations who are looking for people who can generate business on commission basis only. That has been the response till today April 12, 2006.

A few things which I would like to point out

1. WAFY suggested a few changes on my resume, which were quite logical.
2. I do not know how many companies / organizations were targeted by WAFY. So that remains a gray area.
3. In this mass mailing exercise, we do not know to whom the resume is sent. Now if someone calls you up and asks why are you interested in our company, and those types of questions, it becomes very difficult to reply immediately. This is especially true of smaller companies whom ideally you would want to research out first. One solution to this is to keep an answering machine and let the person leave a message. Do a basic search for the company on the Internet and than return the call.
4. So total 5 responses. Had I wanted to work on commission-only basis this would have been good!! But right now I do not have the resources or the experience to build my own book of clients to work solely on commission basis. Maybe some senior CD’s who have been in this field can guide me.

I must thank WAFY for this offer. I am positive that something should work out from this exercise. However one suggestion to WAFY – this was a promotional offer for me and you did not charge me money for this, but if someone who wants to pay you for your services, how does he / she know whom is he/ she paying to? I think that amount of transparency would go a long way in generating more business for. This is a suggestion, which you can take it positively. However if you are offended by it do let me know, I shall delete this from the post.

Charlie Sahib I just wanted to take this chance to congratulate you and your family from everyone at WAFY and wish you the best. Again thank you for recommending your friends. You won this because of YOU. Its YOUR expereince, YOUR passion and YOUR determination to win that got you there. We just helped in putting you in front of the right people and companies. This is incredible news and again good luck (i think you have more interviews) and also will get these calls for 2-3 months.

pksatpathy sahib good luck and hope you also get something. You currently got about 130 replies. You are a more senior person with local experience. This process takes several months.

Iceberg sahib thank you for your advice and wish you the best also. We targeted about 1200 companies for you. Typically 10-15 % reply back. The others do not bother emailing you but call you. Please understand this does take a few months. I agree with you that you are looking for a sales position and do not accept non salary jobs. If you do find a good company then do consider accepting it for part time ( even though you do zero work) as you need some type of experience in canada in finance as you have made a radical change in the industry you are applying to. If you do that or had then it helps as their competitors want you and are willing to get you and pay you. I usually recommend students or even new immigrants to call certain companies up and say they will do anything to work there and will even work there 1-2 days (or a few hrs) a week at no cost or obligations to them just for experience. ( just do that for month or even a few hrs if you want) What this leads to is experience on their resume and you will immidiately be looked as as a person with some experience from their competitors. You will be amazed how well this works specailly in finance. Couple of quick things. The database is almost every finance company. Its a list of over 1200 clients. Even if we give it its 30 pages of info and double sided. You are welcome to see it at one of our setions that we do but all you will see is hundreds of names of companies. Thanks for your super advice.

I am in sales and try to do everything to make you marketable. Everthing we do is designed to keep adding that 1 % advantage to your resume. Charlie sahib was the only one that did all of the changes we had requested. Bottom line you only sometimes get a second chance. All we do is get you to the table with all your cards and have everything in your resume that will make them call you for an interview.

Then I know you will win. I bow my head down to you in the type of experience and history you all have.
