Knock yourself out.
Second, the site clarifies something - Epidurals DO NOT slow labor!
Finally, I would trust a "dumb" doctor over some auto mechanic with an internet connection and Canadian Desi's URL - Really! What does anybody here (including me) know about epidurals? Ask questions to your OB/GYN - the next time you visit.
I do not want to rain on anyone's parade, but this person COULD override a doctors best judgment because of comments made here. I think when it comes to giving advise (esp medical related) point the seeker to resources rather than passing opinions as some sort of fact. By the way, my wife had an epidural both times. And we asked for it because we had discussed the birthing process with the OB/GYN in detail.

Jokes apart, I would say that the men who replied to this post were "standing beside" their wives (during the delivery) in terms of emotional support and participation, and exhibited the ''we delivered the baby, we were pregnant" phenomena and not that "my wife delivered the baby, my wife was pregnant"......perhaps a relatively new concept for some people.

Hi Nupur,
Firstly don't think about the pain you are going to have during labour. The more you think about it the more it will freak you out. So relax. You just might not need any pain medication.
Secondly, epidurals are the best things to have happened to women giving birth. I delivered a beautiful baby girl in July 2005. I took the epidural and my birthing experience was amazing at Sunnybrook and Womens' College Hospital.The chances of the needle striking the spinal cord are one in a zillion. So don't worry. there has been just one case in Ontario since the last 30 years when it paralysed a woman.
Enjoy your pregnancy and don't stress.

epidural is good but all depend upon doctor and patient, my wife is still facing side effect of epidural, so u have to be strong when taking epidural
