Hi,
This is really a wonderful thread...I am also migrating to canada soon alongwith my family(my wife and 3 yr. old daughter)..We are planning to do our initial landing in June'10. We will be staying in toronto for 2 weeks and will return back to Abu Dhabi (where I am working right now)...please let us know if anyone from kolkata is landing in toronto during that period (June'10). Also, I will appreciate if someone can suggest me some good hotels in downtown toronto (good but not expensive)...thanks in advance..peace

Hi,
I am an immigrant in Canada, and have been living here for over 5 years, I would love to spend sometime to help out people with choosing the right paths for getting education, and general immigration help regarding jobs and others. Originally, I am a Bengali from Kolkata, which is my birthplace as well.
I have been fully trained through the Canadian education system, and am on my way to a CA in Canada. Also, I would love to meet fellow kolkatans, please feel free to message me for any sort of help, and I can provide including getting rentals, meeting new people, directions to government offices, and any other sort of basic help.
Its great knowing there are so many people from kolkata, who are looking out for each other.... Good luck on your journey to success..
Hi folks from the "City of Joy"
Is anyone planning to travel in the next few months from Kolkata to Toronto?
Please let me know...

Hi Rishav (rdassarm),
It is good to hear that you are ready to offer help in education related queries.
To provide you about the brief background of my self. I am an Indian IT professional working in Singapore and holding PR of Canada. Our main purpose of Canadian PR was to have a better education for our kids.
My elder daughter is interested in Medicine. I have been going through Canadian Universities' websites and it seems that only approx 10% of applicants get selected in Medicine even after having good marks in UG.
Please share your thoughts on such low success rate. I have also read that many Canadian's go to overseas to study Medicine. Can they opt for any study loan in Canada for overseas studies?
Thanks & regards,
