I have been in Canada for over 5 years. It is a friend of mine who mentioned this website, and I have been hooked on it, ever since.
I have a master's in business admn, am going back to school, and I own two businesses. I am still on my way to the top (because the word \"top\" is very relative). Relatively speaking, success hasn't come to me easily. I am proud of the long hours, focus and the \"never give up\" attitude, which has given me the lifestyle, the satisfaction and contentment in life.
I have had a lot of brick bats, four letter words (thanks, recently to oen of my great friends here), curses and the choicest epithets hurled on me. I will not respond because it isn't necessary.
I have disagreed with most of those who constantly gripe, complain and curse the system here. Like some of my fellow viewers would agree, it does no one good, except to show us Indians in bad light.
I agree that some people have grievances about the sytem here, the fact that their credentials are not recognized, and that they are under employed. Let us face the truth with courage instead of fretting and fuming (because that us no good))
Neither the Canadian Government nor the High commision abroad promises employment, prosperity or a great lifestyle. No where have I come across a brochure, or any form of literature that promises this. All of this is our assumption.
We came with the assumption that it would be all hunky dory from day one, that we would have the same \"status\" as back home, and that we would get all the recognition from day one. We also assumed that we would get hired in highly paid positions from day one.
Having done that why do we talk of \"racism\" \"discrimination\", \" corrupt governence\" \"class action suits\" and so forth.
Let us come to the bare truths. Assuming that some of this is true, what is the choice we have?
1) \"Fight for our rights\" as one desi suggested?
2) \"Grin and bear it\", but fret and fume on the forums here?
3) Wait patiently till we get our citizenship and look for jobs south of the border?
4) Go back to India and regain our lost glory, lifestyle and riches?
5) Be innovative, navigate the system, not think of our past life, and start a new life in a different area or career (as a lot of Indians do)
I have seen more of my share of people who have worked hard, turned hostility, adversity into opportunities and are making 5 figure incomes. To someone who sees nothing but despair, darkness and misfortune, there is little solace I can offer, On the other hand I will have lots to share with people who share my enthusiasm, optimism and courage.
I am sure I will have cynics throw their choicest curse on me, but that wouldn't matter. I am proud of having made it ( and I will make it very big, some day soon!).
To those who felt hurt by my \" stop cribbing, go back to where you came from\" stuff, my sincere apologies, but please for your sake, and for the sake of countless others who see happiness, peace, and prosperity, please don't give up!
Excellent! I couldn't have said it better myself!!
Thank You.

Can you tell me what plan of action you have for those who are in this situation? Something good might come out of your idea.
