Well, he is on the ground in NO right now.
His staff is giving him a briefing.
They have a map in front of him and they are splainin' to him what they're gonna do. Which they have said and known for the last 4 days or so.

He looks clueless though. If ever a leader personified a 'deer in headlight' , this is the one.

Really crazy stuff.

Actually not one can really 'prepare' for a category 4 hurricane in 48 hrs time(it was category 1 when it hit florida..it was cat 4-5 in a few hrs before it hit NewO...NewO levees are built to withstand upto cat 3 hurricanes).

I think the Governer/mayor messed up big time. Apparently even the evacuations to the superdome was done only after the feds leaned on the state govt. Considering that the state govt is dem...expect the blame to be shifted on the feds.

The National guard should have been called on by the mayor much earlier. The feds do not have the authority to do that. They state govt was incompetent. I hope the feds sack the lot and takeover(but then that would cause another uproar).

I guess the poor folk in srilanka, indonesia etc were used to living a tough life before the tsunami hit, so they could manage much better after .

There seems to be too much of a temptation to make this into an issue of race. Getting hit by a category 5 hurricane – with winds in excess of 150mph - is not a joke. Emergency services can’t respond overnight when they’ve taken such a pounding………had it been a third world country, there would probably have been a few hundred thousand people dead.

The black community needs to ask themselves, why they are always the exception. Maybe its because they don’t own up responsibility for their predicament. Kinda like the wave of shootings in Toronto (where the vast majority of both victims and perpetrators are black). Their first response was to shift the blame…….

And seems like thunk is a web word or chat lingo.

No no, its been around before that. Used casually in several sitcoms and movies...

Well...someone messed up big time. And I'm sure accusations are gonna fly now that the reason for this goof was that the majority of the population affected were blacks.

Yes, the state govt. messed up. But isn't FEMA a federal agency? Their co-ordination of this whole thing was a disaster as well. The least they could've done is evacuate to Houston BEFORE the hurricane.

Methinks that the expectation from the govt. (state and feds) was that this thing was going to cause x million dollars damage, some lost lives etc etc...the usual stuff. And then blow over. And it turned out much worse and they were not ready.

And to think that the eye shifted to the right of NO, if it had hit it dead center.....

People who didn't evacuate after the mandatory evac. calls are to blame as well, whether black or white. I think that they erred the same as the govt., underestimating the gravity of what was to come....
