Why did you skip quoting the pecking order? Just so that you can give better weight to your argument. Where did I write that you will not find a job w/o NA experience?

Also, remember these pecking orders are not written in stone or by god.

Are the guys who found jobs just lucky people? I don't think so. All of them do have really good communication skills and technical ability. The lack of North American experience is certainly a road-block, however the ability to get past that is individual-specific. And certainly not rare given how many desis are doing quite well for themselves here.

That's what I gathered from your line there, but good to know that its not what you meant. I do agree about the pecking order and also the fact that these are not etched in stone.

My whole point is the blind pessimism that people like Sridharm propagate (just read his first post) is simply not true and terribly misleading. Too many desis I know are doing well here to be exceptions.

Don't you contradict yourself here?

BTW, with reference to some of your comments in a previous post - I was with the big-4 (in one of the so-called 'yapper' jobs - though not in IT) both in the Middle East and in Toronto. Was hired in Toronto with no previous North American experience. Presently in a position in industry, I still deal with many big-4 staff that come the same route - not just from the sub-continent, but also from Europe.

the guy has clearly contradicted himself not once but a couple of sentences clearly say that one cannot a job without North Amer experience.

No clarity in his own thoughts how the hell can he end up commenting or advising new people ?

it almost seemed (almost) that he didnt want the original poster to come in and try out the job market. many people would be able to smell that.

Hi and thanks to all for giving their input in this discussion

Had not been able to reply back earlier as I was busy with some `yapper' job ;)

Before I post my opinion in this discussion, I would like to quote a few earlier posts and reply to them?.

>>>>>Sridharm:
==== your english is not english here my friend as you are from a inferior race.====

Please re-read your sentence. If my 'English' is not 'English' then what does it sound like...Punjabi, marathi, French or arabic???? Mentioning that there is difference in American English and Queen's English (which is generally taught in India) or that communicating due to problems with dialect and accent is understandable. But such statements are glaring examples of why people don't succeed. I would really recommend you read some posts by transmogrifier on Hinglish....sarcasms at its best ;)
I do sincerely hope that you have got your Canadian passport or will get it soon.. for you are a disgrace to India and Indians and as long as you hold an Indian passport you'll be an embarrassment to the Indians world wide. Don't blame your short comings on the whole race!!! :cuss:

======Lots of people are going back.======

If it so dark, grim and difficult out there, when are you leaving??? Or, your implication is that I have made it but other's cann't as they are from an `inferior race'.

======You dont know what pain is until you feel it. You dont know what hunger is unless you are hungry.======

I fail to see the relevance of this statement w.r.t the discussion. Flash news for you, I have not landed from Mars and being a mere mortal, I do feel pain, hunger and astonishment on the views of some homo sapiens :(

The overall impression I formed with your post was, that you got really offended when I asked Mr. Sridharm for his qualifications (BTW, he has still not come back with this info). You fail to see the difference between
a)Don't come. No job, because we Indians are inferior and goras think we are good for nothing.
AND
b)I am in the same field with an XYZ degree and ABC certifications. I have N years of experience. Had problems getting a job as these skill sets are not in demand. However, adapting your skills to this related field may help.

======The auditors typically need to have good people skills. They normally get employed by consulting firms or very large corporations. Will you make the cut in North America on people skills front?======
Before aiming you guns and going on the offensive :shoot: , you should have asked about my current job profile and employer!!! Since I am working for a 'large' (employs about 11,000 people) corporation, I think people skill front is trivial for me.

======No, you wouldn't be called for interview because your resume will show you have no North American experience. This is how jobs are filled:
.....Now you know where you stand on pecking order======
Many have already replied, on how their acquaintances have got jobs without North American experience. And, yes, you do mean that it is not possible to find jobs without North American experience.
Since you are an `entrepreneur', let me update you with how most of the jobs in IT field are filled...by the pecking order you have listed!!! The top five of the list are valid worldwide...be it the Sub continent, Middle East, Europe or North America.
I am very well aware of it and my post to CD is one of my attempts to break this barrier.

======He has a job in Canada as IT Security Consultant and you don't. That is all he needs for qualifications. It will be easier to find a job as IT Security Consultant with MCSE/CCNA and some security experience than with CISA and no 'Canada' experience. ======
May be I have a better paying job in Middle East than his low paying one in Canada!!
For sure I am more happy and positive than him. And this `qualification' of his, makes me `disqualify' his post as worthwhile.

======Also, you are assuming if he didn't have security certifications means he had no previous security experience, that is inaacurate assumption. And people who assume things make bad auditors and consultants ;-) ======

Ahhmm.....which part of 'I have four years of experience as a network engineer' makes you think he's a 'security expert'???

======Also CISA/CISSP auditor certs target different type of security jobs than MCSE/CCNA target...you know 'yapper' job vs. 'down in the trenches' job. And chances in trench job for for people with non-Canadian experience is better than yapper job.======
The only difference that I know of between CISA/CISSP and MCSE/CCNA jobs is that of the pay scale. MCSE/CCNA just desire to earn what CISA/CISSP is getting!!!
Since you are not in the security field, here is security job 101 for you: even CISA/CISSPs roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty. Probably you are not aware of the world wide transformation in large corporations from IT security to Information Security. This job profile requires people `from the trenches, good in yapping'....a rare combination which I am glad to possess. You really haven't seen my `1337 h4x0r skilz' ;) :type:
<<<<<<<<<<<

Unfortunately, ladies and gentlemen, this thread is heading the same way as any other on CD. Worthless posts predicting total doom and full of pessimism. I was expecting more than this...replies to guide me which skills to sharpen and acquire to get jobs in Canada.
I was hoping to get in touch with people in similar field to enhance my job prospects... A fool's hope!!!
Talks of racism and inferiority complex for which they themselves are responsible. Look at posting discussing where to meet Punjabis, Gujju, Marathi...this is racism and we are propagating it.
