Hello everyone,
This is my first post on the forum.
I went through a lot of topics posted and came to a sad conclusion that life in Canada is tough. Maybe tougher than other countries.
But still there are a few who are doing good and we do see first generation desis who have made it to the top.
So, rather than thinking that Canada is some kind of hell where we need to live before moving on to other countries, why not do the best while we are here.
I have compiled a list of things that I belive is necessary
1) Fluent (preferably Canadian) English
2) Canadian degree
3) Canadian experience
4) Startup capital for the Canadian venture
5) hardwork and patience
6) A good lot of Desi friends
Your additions/suggestions/comments to the list are welcome.
Regards
Above all add this one:
1) POSITIVE THINKING AND POSTIVE ATTITUDE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO BE SUCCESSFULL IN CANADA.
you have made good points.

After you have chosen your goal / target , be persistent and work with a sincerity of purpose. Know that these countries ( US, Canada ) were not like this initially but were built to be like this through hard work and vison of the founding fathers. ( Not the people who always looked for the best dollar rate to send home . Now do not get angry at me )
I am one of the many desis who struggled real hard and can say fro my short experience that no matter what we do today, we should have a clear vision of what we intend to become in the future / where we see ourselves etc and work slowly but surely towards that...

What does it take to have a good life in Canada?
1. Immigrate when single.
2. Start early accumulating savings.
3. Be a wealthy miser.
4. Cut expenses.
5. Try to increase income as much as possible.
6. Know the income tax system in and out, through and through so you know how to pay taxes to the minimum even if it means investing a lot in the RRSPs etc.
7. Assuming you immigrate when you're single, try to look for a spouse south of border.
Simple.
