Hello Guys,

I am based in the United Arab Emirates and am a Biomedical Engineer by profession. Most of my experience has been in the Analytical instruments and Biochemistry Analyzers (DADE BEHRING). Also had a stint at being a Biotech Service Engineeer for a little over 2 years and have accumalated over 10 years experience as a service Engineer. My immigration interview is scheduled for the 18 September and my guess is that if all goes well... I should be in Canada by Feb 2006, preferably in Toronto. I request you all particularly those in the Biomedical Engineering field ( Biomed are u listening !!!) to give me a feed back of my professional scope in canada. I hope to secure a job in a span of atleast 5 months. Am i being realistic about it???.

I have just seen your post and thought of writing to you right away.
I came here in 2004, with quite the same qualifications as you have. The only difference is that I was based in Kuwait. I had about 10 years of experience as a Biomedical Engineer. But after landing here it was a different story all together. Got a few interviews but no job and mostly the excuse was that I have no CANADIAN EXPERIENCE. But almost a year later my stars shined and I was called for an interview (I had applied for that job almost 8 months before) and eventually got the job. All I say is that it is a metter of luck and timings. You are working for Dade Behring. Which company represents them over here? Try to get a reference letter from them, even batter if you can have your CV forwarded by some senior person in your company to the company in Canada. You never know when the luck strikes.
Last but not the least, after you get here, do not give up. It is a tough road with light at the end. Being in the Middle East we are used to easy going life but that is not the case here.

Thanks S.H for your post. I am actually a bit discouraged by what I hear as i was under the impression that considering my experience and IT skills I would'nt have a tough time getting a job. I sure dont want to end up doing jobs outside my skillset / experience. Thanks for your suggetsion S.H.
