I am landing in Toronto in July 2004 from Dubai. My wife and I do know that there is going to be a bit of a struggle finding jobs and settling down. However, what kind of a job can i look for with my qualifications certified and equated to a BBA from ontario univ and 3 years of professional studies in accounting?

Hi!

Have you done your BBA from Ontario University? If yes please let me know how we can get ourselves registered? As our field is also accounting.

Dear Anjana,
I had my certs assessed at world education services (WES) and they equated my qualification of B.Com(Hons), CA(Inter) and CIMA (UK) Stage III as equavalent to BBA from Ontario Univ plus 3 years of proff study in Accounting. I think browsing their site would give u more info on their requirements to join BBA

Dear Balaji

Did they mention in report that your qualifications would be treated at par to get professional license in Ontario? Normally these reports are only useful (only sometime) to get job in your own profession. Please make sure you have correct information to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

Regards
Biomed

dear balaji

You may want to refer to the previous posts wherein we discussed the potential of acctg/finance profs. from 3rd world in Canada.
Your assessed degrees will NOT help you find a job in Canada. Mind well, you are directly competing with canadian born/raised, experienced holding canadian degrees. There are always some exceptions. Some desis luck out.
As previously discussed if you get admission in one of the levels of CGA/CA/CMA then the chances are bright. Secondly you should have hands-on experience of SAP/R3, Oracle, Peoplesoft, etc... which is widely used by most of the organizations. if you are good at these programs, acctg. agencies may help you getting a temp job.
You also have to keep in mind that lots of desi CAs and MBA(fin) are doing tough factory jobs in Canada.

Hello:

I am a finance and acctg guy-CA,CWA,CS,CIMA, MBA.Got degrees assessed by WES and rated as equivalent to a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Accounting and Business Management (MBA) from an Ontario University. Currently doing CGA Level 5. Mind you, these assessments dont really help you in getting a job. What will help you getting a job,as rightly mentioned above is knowledge of SAP etc. That helps temp agencies place you.Ultimately you get a break. As correctly said also, lots of CAs and MBAs are doing factory jobs-

So you are forewarned before coming in.!

Good Luck

Sathish

Hello Balaji,
And another warning - if you are above 40 and look like it (from your name it seems you are 46), you will find it difficult even to get factory jobs!!!

In such a case my advise to you would be to plan for a business of your own - however small or big - rather than trying for a decent job - age now a days is a big hurdle -even in India, to get a decent job!
