Yes Blue Lobster
You are very right.
Many in India are aware of tough situation ahead to some extent and determined to do any job here..................its just that they have no clear idea what ANY job means and what other unforeseen problems come with it.
Sure our mind filters out the undesireable when one thinks of "back home". Thats human nature. In above article there is mention of a middle aged person who lost close to $60, 000 before ruturning to Pakistan. But within months had to come back when he found the situation depressing there as well. That is the reality.
However what I am trying topoint out is two things.
First of all immigrants from south asia are not fully aware of the problems that await them and always hope (against hope) that things will wok out. The questions some of them ask from India before coming here are at times hilarious if not right away stupid. Instead of asking practical questiosn about cost of living and managin the show for several months or even 2-3 years they are more insterested in knowing if their degrees will get them a job!!!!!!!!
They come unprepared and thats is the second point I am trying to make. How come people from Korea, Hong Kong or Romania dont work in factories while we have to? Because all these people bring money with them, they arrive and relax, upgrade their skills develop networks and then land a good job after a year or so. We on the other hand run staright to labour jobs, aiming straight for $50.00 a day income, forgetting that it is a vicious cycle and a dead end begining.
And still how many immigrants on this board ask if Govt. really checks at the airport how much money they are bringing in!!!!!!!!!!
