My questions was"If you were in a hiring position..........."

If someone is getting a job other than desis , why we should think we are discriminated? May be the other person is really talented, desi or not.

If I am in a hiring position, and if two equally talented persons, one desi and another non-desi apply, I will definitely go for the desi since he has one extra qualification that suits me!

In case the desi is less talented, but the difference is not much, I will still prefer him over a non-desi since it will be easier for me to communicate with him and he will understand my requirements and my reasoning better than a non-desi.

However, if the desi is not fit for the job and I cannot hope to train him to be fit for the job, I will take a non-desi.

And then again, depending on the requirements of the job, I might even base my selection on sex - male or female, depending on who will be more suitable for the job. So let's say if I am opening a grocery store and I need some help - I would prefer a male to a female (even if she is a desi) because he will be able to help me in manual work too.

yes it is racism if you hire someone on the basis that they are from the same background as you, but its what happens with SOME "white" recuiters.

If both have similar skills then as someone put down, I would go for the Desi. but if there is a marked difference, business is business, best qualified gets the job.

But not everyone thinks the same, doesn't matter what the qualification or experience they will still pick their own kind.

I'd go with someone who I thought would vibe well with my team and me.

Color/place of birth dont matter. Ability to work together to make $ for me does.
