How many Indians are ready to recruit another Indian?

If a Desi is in a position to hire people, either by having his own company/business or by being in a hiring position in a company,
how many Desis, he/she will give a chance to?
Is he/she going to decide over talent or being a Desi?
True answers please!

If I were in deciding place, I wont hesitate to hire desis. Merit/Talent is a criteria never to miss out... meaning... I wont hire a desi, just bcos he/she is a desi. At the same time, I wont avoid them, just bcos they are desi.

I agree. The merit system is still the best system

At most to prove myself Desi credentials, I might get the person an interview, after that they are on their own.

Hiring people just because of their nationality is called racism. How would you feel if there is a white person in an organization with decision making powers and decides to hire only white people?

Please clarify abt desis. Does it include desis who have become Canadian citizens?

If that is the case, I have hired one, long timer in Canada (has some behavioural issues, can't hold a job for more than a year).

Got jobs for two more (immigrant status) with another employer since there was no opening with us at that time. One was let go after three months due to language problem. The other one is still there having a good time.

I am ready to recruit another Indian . To me the nationality does not matter. As long as the person is qualified and demands reasonable salary, I am okay with it . In Fact I have referrered a couple of Indians in my company and they have also got jobs .

To me Nationality does not matter in a +ve or a Negative way ..

My questions was"If you were in a hiring position..........."

If someone is getting a job other than desis , why we should think we are discriminated? May be the other person is really talented, desi or not.

That is why i was hired ( a desi and skin in black) and i have been in the job for 3 years now

If I am in a hiring position, and if two equally talented persons, one desi and another non-desi apply, I will definitely go for the desi since he has one extra qualification that suits me!

In case the desi is less talented, but the difference is not much, I will still prefer him over a non-desi since it will be easier for me to communicate with him and he will understand my requirements and my reasoning better than a non-desi.

However, if the desi is not fit for the job and I cannot hope to train him to be fit for the job, I will take a non-desi.

And then again, depending on the requirements of the job, I might even base my selection on sex - male or female, depending on who will be more suitable for the job. So let's say if I am opening a grocery store and I need some help - I would prefer a male to a female (even if she is a desi) because he will be able to help me in manual work too.

yes it is racism if you hire someone on the basis that they are from the same background as you, but its what happens with SOME "white" recuiters.

If both have similar skills then as someone put down, I would go for the Desi. but if there is a marked difference, business is business, best qualified gets the job.

But not everyone thinks the same, doesn't matter what the qualification or experience they will still pick their own kind.
