Dear Friends,

I dont know if I shud be writing here or not, but anyway, I am enjoying every moment of uncertainty. Currently, I am an IT professional to work for World-leader IBM.

Just filling the mandatory info, feel free to get any additional detail from me via PMs :)

1. When did you came to Canada? - About two years ago.
2. What you do right now? - IT professional
3. Was your first job in your field or do you ever needed to do labor job? - No labor job. However I had to do two jobs, one in call center and other one to teach in local technical college.
4. How did you get your first job? - By persistence, and personal visits to employers
5. Are you satisfied with your job? - Very much.
6. Do you see a good future in Canada? - A vague term to quantify. But yea, money wise, it is working out great.
7. How to do rate Canada? - 6 out of 10
8. How do you find Canada for Kids? - Generally, Kids are out of control and confused (perhaps attributable to parents). Not many kids are found studying here.
9. What is it you don't you like about Canada or What is it you would like to see more of in Canada? - Lot of things, I might end up writing an essay about this. In short, I wud like substantial changes in educational, medical, public services (such as police) standards, which are not upto the mark as per my first hand experience.
10. What is your advice for others in terms of settling in Canada? - If already well settled somewhere else, no need to move. Once you move, if you are undecided about future, no point in being in pain. In case you survive for first two years, you are the man. There is nothing holding you back and Horizon is the limit.

Hope this helps

Mods, please dont lock this thread. I would like to reply people's queries abt any further explanation etc.

Regards.

lol... I didnt mention any downs here. Thanks for asking that, and relieving the pain though... lolzzz.... but yes, the first one year was a terrible experience for me. People here treated my MTech not equal to grade 12 even, companies didnt care of what degrees I had, references meant more to them! My international 10 years work exp at USA, South Africa, Europe, India didnt help me - as I continued to hear - all that s fine, but u dont have canadian work exp. My work exp in different technologies from IBM mainframe, client server, internet tech didnt help me, as they believed more in certifications, which I had never bothered abt till now. My work exp in different industries like insurance, manufacturing, securities had little impact, as people were just sitting in their little holes. Perhaps that kind of pressure, when one comes under federal point system, with no support here, and nothing to fall back, is a big trauma. This strengthened my persistence which may be explained with following facts of life:

I asked for strength...
...and God gave me difficulties to make me strong.

I asked for wisdom...
...and God gave me problems to solve.

I asked for courage...
... and god gave me danger to overcome.

I asked for love...
...and God gave me troubled people to help.
