" If one gets a high paying job of engineer and become enployed. The he is asked to do a labour job with pay less then that of Engineer's insurance. Can he get both Or the higher (i.e. unemployment allowance)..""
NO.
EI covers you against involuntary loss of job. Lets say you get a good job as engineer and work fro two years. Then you lose job and go on EI.
You find another job as a laborer but leave your job within 3 weeks because it is too harsh. Will you get EI again.
NO and I repeat NO. Because you resigned or left your job. EI does not have intelligent parameters built in software to understand that you could not do your job. The law says if you leave the job, you WON'T get EI.

As far as i know you do NOT get EI if you resign or are fired.
EI covers you against involuantary loss of job, not when you leave it.
..
You get about 55% of your salary.

I also hear that taj mahal is for sale but..................
Yes one can still get EI BUT read the law.......the law clearly specifies that you will NOT get it. I have seen my friends go through it and NO, they did NOT get it.

Extracting the relevant, here's what HRDC is saying in the FAQ about qutting and getting fired
Quote:
Question # 15
Q) Can I get EI if I quit my job?
A) Generally, when you voluntarily quit your job without just cause, you will not be paid regular benefits. After quitting that job, you must work the required minimum number of insurable hours to get regular benefits.
However, even if you quit your job, sickness, maternity and/or parental benefits may be payable to you if you have enough insurable hours to qualify for these benefits. For more information, contact your local HRDC office.
Q) Can I get EI if I am fired from my job?
A) Generally, when you are fired from your job due to your own misconduct you will not be paid regular benefits. After losing that job, you must work the required minimum number of insurable hours to get regular benefits.
However, even if you were fired, sickness, maternity and/or parental benefits may be payable to you if you have enough insurable hours to qualify for these benefits. For more information, contact your local HRDC office.
