I've been here for 10 years, and am well settled & satisfied. There are times I do feel like changing a few things (if I could).

One thing for sure is that life is too mechanical here. The regular M-F 9-5, then on the weekends household chores. Worst if you live in a house, there's always something (fixing) to be done. You don't get to spend as much time with the family as you'd like to.

Hope I didn't get off topic.

I can't think of any country where this won't be true ;)

I just cannot understand how people can make fun of other human beings shortcomings. :(
Personally I do not find it entertaining at all, in fact I feel it shows a certain lack of growing up in us.

We should be encouraging all desis well versed or not to contribute to this forum.
But the way the tamasha is made of some writers I am not sure if these people will dare to continue. This is sad!

Spelling mistakes are annoying, I am sure there is a decent way of pointing it out.
Like the way ON corrected Madhauris grammar and ending his note with (Thanks for your understanding.... )This in my opinion sounded quite appropriate.

We have a lot to learn from each other and I am sure writers lacking the English grasp can contribute much.
Give everybody a chance, Pleeeeeez!

As for a mechanical life.. i have worked in Japan, US, India, and now Canada and have found that life every where these days is pretty mechanical. It is always about M-F @ 9-5pm. If anything life in Canada is slower, I think. When I worked in India.. work would start at 830am and end at 7pm and by the time normal life took place it was time to sleep..
This is my 4th year in canada and have found that this country is a little laid back..

Hi Tourist,

I dont think Crenshaw by any means tried to make fun or offend anyone due to lack of grammar / spelling mistakes.......

The message conveyed was if you carry a poor English......let it be grammar/spelling or even improper speech...........your chances of failure in Canada is 'SUBSTANTIALLY HIGH"...........

This is irrespective of whether you are a Ph. D or whatever............

Deep

Tourist dear,

I am amazed at the inference you have drawn from Crenshaw's post. He did not - in any way - make fun of spelling mistakes or grammatical shortcomings. He had reciprocated in a manner which pointed out that is is not correct/desireable to really strangle language and come out with words like:

d- instead of the
nither - instead of neither (from the way whole sentence is written, it is evident that it is NOT a spelling mistake but a deliberate attempt)
n - instead of and
bealive - instead of believe (again a deliberate attempt, not a mistake)
ppl - instead of people
r - instead of are

If one uses short forms once in a while, it is okey, but the whole sentence is written in 'dat' manner does not sound good and 'dat' is what Crenshaw has tried to put forward in a humourous manner. The whole post was written in a SMS language, which is not desireable on a forum like this.
