There are lot of job available for ladies also in General Labor field like packaging, sorting & light assembly etc. All companies hire ladies in all department, canadian workplace is cleaner & more safer for ladies to work. Just keep you mind open & do,nt let your old habits/thought override you. there is plenty of work in factories & also it is safest if you are permanent you get medical benefits etc. + job is also almost secure.
So cheers up & do,nt be afraid of labor job. Atleast you will become financial independent much quicker.

Thanks desi driller,

I am not scared or anything its just that one should mentally prepared for such things. Mostly we all come from upper middle class families in India n r used to maids at home, n dhobis n milkmen, n laundry wallas n not used to working in anything but offices, so u really have to be prepared for the grind.

Cheers
Archana

Yes you might, in case the lure of maids and dhobi and milkman are already troubling you.

One of the best things that happened to my household when moving to Canada from Indonesia (where house help was more easily available and cheaper and better than India) was that we did not have anything of that sort here. We saved a lot of time that we used to spend either in waiting for the maid to complete a job, or teach her how to do it (since like India, they keep changing frequently too), getting frustrated when they misused things in the house or did not do their work properly at time, and discussing in drawing room discussions and over phones between ladies what each person's maid did, or did not do, or run away with the driver etc.

Now we have to do things on our own, but total time taken is much less, both because we know how to do it and what exactly we want, as well as avoiding increasing the work which we unconsciouly did (like dusting the house three times a day only because the maid was there!!), or taking short trips to the 'bazaar' just because the driver was always waiting for us.

You got to get over that feeling to be able to find joy in Canadian living, and the earlier you do it, the better it is.

I have 2 years
Thanks Chandresh,

We have applied abhi just 2 years ago so it will take atleast another 2 for us to get there n till then i will get used to the idea of being without a maid n the dhobi etc as my little kids would also grow up n become school going n slighly more independent then now.

Till the let me enjoy the bliss,

Archana

Earlier a person looking to immigrate to Canada asked on this board if (s)he should immigrate to Canada. One of the member of CD replied that, if we tell you NO is that going to stop you from coming to Canada.
Now, today I have experienced with you too. I gave honest opinion of Canada from my perspective not thinking that it will make you dhuki or happy but you felt it other way.
The mention of kids, I dont want to comment problems new immigrant face pertaining to kids..........keep guessing.
Best of Luck,
Double cheers to you.

Try living without a maid at your home for 2-3 months - you might find that a bliss, believe me. My sister has returned to India from Indonesia(with tons of dough) and can easily afford two of each in her household (maid, driver) but lives with just one part time maid. They find it so convenient since they have help whenever needed, but not a permanent burden! (Like Canadian companies getting the work done on part time basis for years - but never hiring as permanent employee that same person who has been doing the work all these years!

When in India, you feel Canada would be better and when in Canada, you feel India was better in many ways. This happens to so many people.

I came to know of a family that packed their bags to go to India after being in Canada for 3 years. The husband left his permanent full time job since they had no intention of coming back to Canada. The family came back within 2 months to Canada after being in Delhi. They said they could not "bear" it, population, pollution, schools and other problems. The husband got part time job in the same organization from where he resigned and now waiting for a full time oppurtunity. Immigration and going back to home country are major decisions in life. Nothing is easy!
