The current pic submitted by VJ that supposedly shows a satellite image of the tsunami.

Maybe I am mistaken, but to me it looks more like a cyclone or a hurricane. Note the spiral? Why should sea waves appear as if they are spiralling?

Also, why the white colour? The tsunami waves does not break into surf until they hit land.

VJ, could you please check and confirm your source of the pic?

Aap ne mere munh ki baat chhin li. I was going to post the same topic.

This is a hurricane IMHO. Tsunami is caused due to earthquake, and hence the wave may go away from the centre, not converge towards the centre

+1.

Also shouldnt pics be something that you and I have actually taken.

Most of the Tsunami pics are all over the internet.
Not to deter those who submitted, But the idea was to submit an original pic.

Dear Mercury6, Meghal, DTC & Kdeveneson (I saw your comment on an another post regarding this),

I took this from an email sent to me by a friend in AUSTRALIA. Moreover recently I saw a graphic showing the exact circular movement of the EARTHQUAKE with the time in which it spreaded from the EPICENTRE to the last point.

However while posting this I had no idea whatsoever about other scientific factors attached to , what you guys have mentioned. So, now I am gonna write an email to my friend asking the same question?

I was seeing a programme on NAT GEO recently on TSUNAMI and came to know that, TSUNAMI is "EARTHQUAKE in WATER". First the quake takes place and due to which the water starts expanding its limits and boundaries in more of a circularly expanding way.

I offloaded what I had in my mind & knowledge, now the only request to all of you is "PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THIS AS ONE MORE NON-CONSTRUCTIVE THREADS". If the moderators want to remove it from the home page, its fine (rather its advisable, to avoid further additions of objections against the picture).

Regards,

VJ

Dear All,

I generally avoid using/giving straight alegations/claims, hence thought of writting this. The word "NON-CONSTRUCTIVE" is my personal belief after reading certain posts in few threads, which I FOUND miles away from the original context/objective of the topic. This does not mean its Non-constructive for every one.

Regards,

VJ.

VJ,

To be honest, I don't think it was meant to be non-constructive. I agree a lot of people commented on it, but I guess most just wanted you to confirm.

Maybe your friend who forwarded it to you was mistaken, however it seems like a hurricane picture to me too. The "whirlpool" action depicted with the "eye" does not seem to be a Tsunami or a earthquake characteristic.

There's no need to delete it since it'll be shuffled out today anyways.

Are you there?
