And it took me 2 hrs to shovel snow out of my driveway! And this was my first experience shoveling - started off with a bang in true sense - 30cms or thereabouts!

So was it frustating for you? Actually snow shoveling is not that difficult, but if it is ice breaking and shoveling it is difficult. And you did that as your first experience.

But why you needed to snow out your drive-way? Many people (including me) left it as it is.

Infact I did the exercise in two installments - one in the norning and another one in the afternoon. The one in the morning was comparitively easier since there was only a very thin layer of ice. But by afternoon, it became a thick layer of almost 3 inches ice and that was really tough. If I had not removed it, I would have been locked in my house today morning with temperatures around minus 11.

dont you have private snow removal services in TO? I think for a fee of about 200$/winter they clear all the snow off the driveway after every 5 cms...AND they come in after the city cleans up(those huge rocks of snow/ice the city trucks deposit in the entrance of the driveway are NASTY to break thru). Most people in my neighbourhood, including me use these services. So the walkway to the house is the only shoveling we have to do.

I know that people in even colder countries like Russia use chains.
Does anyone know how that works and if it is an option here.
I have just heard of it - never seen them or know what they are.
