We got power today around 12:15 pm. We were out of power for 20 hours and water came to the apartment around 6PM.

One hell of a day... :kaioken:

Some of my experience during the power outage:
...
Waited 1 hour in the line at Hasty 24 hr Deli for bottle of water and coke..
Struck in the elevator for 30 minutes.
Spent 2 hours searching for food at restaurants, but everything closed.
Waited 1 hour at Indian restaurant for 6 rotis and 1 curry (y'day Dinner)
Had dinner in the car...
No water in the apartment, so toilet didn't work.
Went to ground floor of apartment and got the water in a bucket from car washing tap outlet for the toilet. ( 3 trips for one flush :D )
Waited 1 1/2 hours for the Gas.(Petrol)
Waited 1 hour for morning breakfast at Burger King
...
...
...
In the end, everything is safe and sound...

Now I got tasted what's the life in US or Canada without electricity for a one single day.... :madgo:

Too much digital dependency... :cuss:

How about you guys?

Very sorry for the folks out in the east.

We, too, had our share of the fall out from your power failure - many domestic flights by Air Canada etc were grounded. Luckily, WestJet was flying as normal.

We didn't suffer much as we moved to a house recently. :)

We also have a gas stove so cooking wasn't a problem :)

Our great Municipality had enough water, so our toilets were working too :D

As a precaution we emptied our big garbage can and filled it up with water, it was never used.

My wife telephoned almost 40 families and friends living in apartment building to come to our house for bath and food. Interestingly as most of us now have cordless phones, which works only with electricity, 70 percent calls were unanswered. :(

So next day (Friday) we have big gathering of 50 people at our house for entire day. The gora neighbours were suprised to see it. :(

Though some people suffered a lot (I myself was in downtown at that time and how I reach home without car is another great story!), overall it was fun to see people of advance country surviving through such incidents!!

We passed the test

BTW, How the heck you got the stove?

Got it from India or bought it here?

Oh, they are available in all major appliances stores. All our houses are with gas supply (for heating, water heating) only thing you need is to extend the gas line and connect to your stove.. The stove (Cooking range) ranges from 400 to 1500 Cd$ and gas line extention cost would be between 200 to 400..

It is bit costly compare to electric one though :(

Once you have it you will enjoy the same kind of food as India - soft rotis and puris are especially so good.. come one day to eat it man!
