Hi Indian
Good day!
I did not mean to hurt your feelings but I do find that many desis tend to pull one down.....you know the crab thing.....
Yes, I know and understand perfectly well how you feel for I am in the same boat. I came here after almost twleve years of exp and hoped that I would be able to make something of it but well....there dont seem to be any jobs.
It is tough going back to school and it can get lonely and depressing but well, can one do any thing else? Either we upgrade or we languish in jobs that are menial and barely enable one to survive.
I am told that in coming few year, Baby boomers are likely to retire. That means almost ten to fifteen thousand openings in the next four five years and with that in mind, I have been trying to place myself in a position that would enable me to take advantage of the situation. It could fizzle out or it could work.......only God knows about that.
The economics of going back to school is very hard. But if you do well, you may get schol and may end up with more satisfaction than many of us. So it depends.
In case you have any specific question, then please do address them and I will try and answer them to the best of my ability.
With warm regards.
Vp

Hello Ek Bharatiya and VP
First of all greetings to u all from India....(which at present), is the land of opportunity ! I was amazed by the kind of jobs and salaries one can get in Bangalore... But that aside to answer the questions...
VP..thanks for taking care of Preeto's answers..I did not wish to answer that question as I had covered those questions in my previous posts.
Now for Ek Bharatiya's questions...
As VP has pointed out...the whole experience can be very sobering...You will have to really gird your loins and have a heart of steel to compete with ppl much younger than you. You also face a disadvantage...a family life (with kids, wife and home loans, mortgages etc. )... Of 'cos, while at Calgary, I had seen a couple of folks...a lady with 3 kids who was in her PhD program and a major in the Canadian armed forces pursuing his Masters program in Software engg...So your case will be dependent on circumstances. However, if you have been in the "Canadian Industry", then it becomes redundant to take an additional degree. If, however, you are a new immigrant, dejected and not able to find any jobs then pursuing a second degree program MAY help you in the long run.
The path is, unfortunately, strewn with a bed of thorns....So if you feel you can emotionally cope up with it (financially also)...then my best wishes are with you for that ! Do share with us as to what you eventually decided.

Dear All,
I have got my landing papers and plan to move to
Toronto in April.
As a permanent residence I want to first do Masters
without searching for a field job for years(my
profession is Software Developer)
I plan to study in Computer Science/IT applied
programs like Intranetworks or Software Engg.
please tell me about good universities in Ontario
(preferably) and also about the Government loan which
I will be entitled as a PR.
I wished to do MBA but I have found that getting
admission in MBA program is much more difficult
atleast in the top business schools.
what about doing MBA from not so famous school??
I haven't done GMAT.
waiting for reply.
warm regards, zia

Hey ON
Thanks
Regards
I have gone through this thread and found it really helpful to me and fore sure for many others who share the same intent to immigrate and pursue post graduate studies in Canada to get accredited in their field. I'm pharmacist with 5 years bachelor degree graduated 4 years ago with very good grade of honor. I worked in private pharmacies and currently in pre master course which will end by next June 2005. I had IELTS a year ago and scored 7 in all modules, currently preparing for GRE and TOEFL and will take both exams after June 2005.
Now to what I need your help in, I applied for immigration to Canada year ago and till I get my landing papers, I need to arrange for master in my branch " pharmacology" in Canadian UNIV as a scholarship or based in governmental loans. BTW, I'm married with 2 kids and 26 years old and speak some French as well.
I read about PEBC for pharmacists want to work in Canada and heard that this job is in high demand in Canada. My destination port is Toronto but I can change to any where in Canada where I can have a better chance both for admission and job offers.
What chances do I stand if u could point me out?
Thanks and regards,
