I personally love remixes...like deeba said...I have so many of hit remixes..and love all of them..

although my parents don't agree with them...but yes for some of them they also say that...the music is good...but video isn't...and this I also agree...that some videos don't go with the lyrics...

one of my favourite remixes are.."pyar Zindagi Hai".."saiyan dil me aana re"..."Bin Tere sanam"...and lots more..

some remixes are really good!!
i have one that's a remix of the old song "saiyyan dil me aana re" and its really good :) ...
And i have tons of other remixes too ...

Remixes are good once in a while, if it is done properly and with permission of the music director itself.

But remixes in India are nothing but erosion of creativity. You take any good oldie, put some beats, and it turns into remix. I hate people making big bucks on expense of other Music Directors especially RD Burman. Too bad, Pancham or Laxmikant are not alive today to defend their creations.

I also blame Asha Bhosle, for starting the trend with her album "Rahul and I". It was a shameless way of earning money at the name of her dead ex-husband. Slowly, other people joined the bandwagon.

I wonder how many teenagers know the original source of "Chura Liya Hai TUmne" or "Dil Kya Kare". If teenagers want to listen to music, whey cant they listen to current Hindi Film Music?

Talking about west, I am not much into pop music scene here, but for one remix that Madonna produces, she gives 25 original songs.

But the Indipop scene is pathetic. There is not much originality left there. No more Alishas, Lucky Ali, Colonial Cousins, Euphoria, Raageshwari. People now tend to go easy way. Since old tune is bound to be good, they just put the beats and some weird lyrics, and voila, they have a tune, that they call their composition. And worse, creators like Leslie (of Colonial COusins) promotes the remix.

And why are remixes popular? Why can't Anu Malik, Nadeem Shravan, Aadesh Shrivastav etc.etc. come up with a better music?

It is ironic, that current generation (I am generation X) has to look backward to listen to good music.

But I find it ridiculous to think, that remix can sound better than original. If you want to listen to a fast song, there are enough songs composed by Pancham in 70s to dance to, that feel fresh even today. Thinking of that, when I gifted my nephew in India with CD containing songs from original songs from Hare Rama Hare Krishna and Shalimar and likes, he rejected my selection, saying that all were remixes. It is sad to see, that people tend to identify anything that has a beat to remix.

I hope that remix is just a fad and quickly passes away. It is sure disgusting to see some ladies dancing on a remix of "Koi Pardesi Mera Dil Le Gaya"

Meghal aapne muh se baat cheen li :)

Well if you talk abt remixes and cover versions we have had those for a long time. Indeed there wouldnt have been any Sonu Nigam had there not been the late Gulshan Kumar of T-Series and his cheap cover versions of famous songs. I hope the Indian phonographic act is modified to force ppl to pay royalties to original singers (their trusts if they are dead) and to the music directors and lyricists.

There was a story that Asha Bhonsle was travelling abroad and in the airport heard a remix version of Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko....by the B*****D Bally Sagoo  . When asked who were the singers/composers..she got the re[ply that it was composed by Bally Sagoo ... !!!! I think thats how the album Rahul and I was born.. I dont mind Asha Bhonsle singing her own song "O mere sona re " as a remix (akin to Madonna singing her own remixes)... but for heavens sake..."Kaanta Laga" :ylsuper: (cant show the other finger !)

Vagmi - Let me ask you a very simple question.

Can you provide the singers, name of the movies and music directors of original versions of those songs.

I wonder why people need to remix "Pyaar Zindagi Hai" or "Bin Tere Sanam", when original themselves are based on western beats :cuss: :kaioken:
