I have stopped listenting to AM530. I am not very comfortable with Poornima's excessive use of English and the phrase "You know". Most of the time, when I switch to AM530, either there is some lady singing songs over the phone, or Poornima talking about something.
I listen to a talk show on AM640, and I am in my office and then just get busy with work. Sometimes, if I am not busy, I listen to Pinky at Potpourri.

Apparently, Poornima and somebody called Rakesh Tiwari have taken over the Band Baja's spot from 5pm-7pm on 101.3FM. The funny thing is that I caught her using one of Moin Jamal's patent catchpharases. " Aap ke safar mein humsafar"

^^ I agree. All these DJs in Canada should understand something .. we don't want them to talk for the sake of talking. if their talk has content then spit it out without repititions. Pinky goes on about the weather and drinking lemonade or how the grass is swaying and crap like that.
If you want to talk give content .. like what events are taking place, movie reviews, whats playing, what's hot and whats not. And do it quickly in between songs. Thats what good DJs do.
All the Indian radio DJs suck in Canada .. they like the sound of their own voice too much. And all of them think they are great because they have like 20 of the same callers calling in daily to praise them.

I disagree .. in Delhi I used to love listening to radio and the DJs were funny (some were wacko). Here they all sound like "Aunties" and "Uncles" (sorry no offense meant). I don't have a line in in my car system and get tired of switching CDs, otherwise I would never listen to the junk here except sometimes when I want a laugh from the weird conversations.

So? Is there any rule that radio announcers should be young? They cater to a wide age range - so any person with a good hold on HFM is good to perform that duty.
Otherwise, they become irritating like that young lady at 8 AM on 530, who cannot speak a single line in pure Hindi
