Think both have different characters :

(Guys pls add urs :-)

UK :
PROS Better climate , economy , infrastructure
CONS Racism , cost of living
----------------------------------------------------------
CANADA
PROS : Imigrant & desi community -- homogenity , good life style .
CONS : Weaker economy , bad climate .

Given a choice I wud prefer Canada as a settlement option.

Manasvi .

Uk or Canada? It really depends on your priorities and which place suits your needs better.
Those who live in UK can tell better . Here is my take from my interactions with people from both sides.

1. 2 colleagues of mine (UK nationals) just celebrated getting their canadian immigration.

2. A desi friend ( Canadian citizen ) who works in UK just returned to Canada to get a knee surgery done, he says that same treatment in UK takes 3 times longer and medical service is not as good.

3. From my first hand experience i find Canadians are a lot more friendlier and accepting towards visual minorities compared to folks in UK.

4. London is no match with Canadian cities ( except for places of historical significance) i find Toronto a lot more enjoyable than London.

5. Weather is mostly damp and wet in London and almost as cold in winters. We dont have great climatic conditions as well but atleast it is not as wet in Toronto thru out the year.

But thats my take , some hardend UK fans will surely differ.

I don't know about the Canada, but I have lived in many cities of UK for a fairly long period. What I got to know about Canada from my friends and different forums is really can't comparable with UK.

1)Its very easy to get a job in UK even spouse in dependant visa can also
find jobs very easily, no one asks for UK experience.

2) Medical is extremely good and its free.

3) Desi community is also quit big and you can find desi people at top positions everywhere.

3)Very rich culture and beautiful country side with romantic climate..

4) Good night life...and many more...:)

Cheers
Raj

Well,
As far as my experience goes....
I was cerrying last year and that too it was during my critical stage of pregnancy.I was going to catch a flight back to India, but unfortunately, there was a strike by British Airlines owing to which I have to reside in a hotel in London for a couple of days....
I started having some probs. during my stay...I was on dependent visa....
The hotel manager called up the emergency....the ambulance came and checked me all along the way and took care of my elder child too. They managed everything so well ....I was impressed!
I too have not been to Canada, but what I've gathered from friends is that Canada is good too.
Moreover,I liked the people in UK who carried a smile and were very friendly. The neighbours were too good!
It was very easy to get a good job in UK.
The health visitor used to visit home frequently and keep a constant check about my children's health and my health too. They were too good and friendly.
Moreover, the neighbouring countries Ireland, Scotland and Switzerland was simply beautiful! Every place looked like a picnic spot.

I hope its the same out the there in Canada too.

Happy answerings :)
