As you are aware and might have voted on this poll.
The results are interesting!
Never got any job that satisfied me 26.1%
Within 1 Month 18.5%
Within 3 Months 16.0%
Have not got any job even after getting Canadian Qualifications 12.6%
Within 6 Months 11.8%
Within 1 Year 9.2%
Within 2 years 3.4%
Got a Job, But I had to get Canadian Qualifications 2.5%
So there are 1 in every 4 person saying that they have not got any job that satisfied them. What do we consider this one? A Person's inability to suit with Canada? Result of frustation? I don't know, but this figure is big enough.
Not only that, but the people who got training in Canada and yet not got a job are quite high - 12.6 percent. Interesting! Is it possible? People often says that you have to study a bit in Canada in order to get a job. Then why we have 1 in 8 person saying they have not got a job even after studying here? May be the IT bubble might have played role here. I know many people done one year diploma from some of the IT colleges doing labor jobs .
There are 45 percent people who got statisfactory job within first 6 months!
This is GREAT! It definately shows that most of us are able to get job quite quickly!
Any comments?

It really depends on a individual.
Lets take an example.
Consider, even if one wants to move within India, say from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, Chennai or Delhi or Kolkata, do you think the person will land up with a job in his own field (WITHOUT ANY INFLENCE AND REFERENCES), within first three months? I mean this example has a pre-conditions, same as people coming from India, you know no one in a new city in India and have to start from scratch.
I doubt.

Yes you are right, it is always depending on an individual. Generally polls like this helps us know the trends.
If the trends says that 45 percent people get good job within first 6 months and chances of getting a job for any new potential immigrant are 50 percent. Now on top that we can add other factors like his/her basic qualifications, communication skills, confidence etc.

Hi Friends,
Isn't any thing like employment exchange exists in Canada. where they register evryone and then provide the jobs (offcourse unskilled) on FCFS (First Come First Serve) basis.
Also the need of the hour is that we start something like this now. we should pay our fellowmen rather than to the goras for getting the services of daily use. I am in INDIA rightnow, out friends in Toronto/Canada can help us list the activities, services and products that we can get from our own community at a competitive rates.
Self-Help is the Best-Help that we can get.

Enjoy Happiness -- Happy from India
Hi,
I think that the idea that Happy has discussed is very imporatant, and should require furthur action. This would improve the lives of those that have been having difficulties. There should be those that should take up this cause, so everybody discuss this issue.
Bye.
Wow a good idea from Happy.
IT will surely help future immigrants like me who will be ther in about two years time.
There are many job exchanges availalable - the notable one is from the government. When people go on un-employment they have list of jobs and they ask you to contact companies having jobs.
If you want to find-out on your own, you can also visit their website -
http://jb-ge.hrdc-drhc.gc.ca/
On CanadianDesi we also have list of many job sites.
Now if you are talking about starting a job bank of desis - I think it might work. However desis are so many in canada that they divided themselves in to small circles. Swaminarayans, Marathis, Telugus, Punjabis etc. so you can't create one with all !
Saying that it is absolutely possible to create a job bank. Again, people will visit the site for finding a job, but who will put job there?
You need to have good contacts and dedicated people doing it.
