Dear Kuwaituser,
This official website clearly states that "You must accumulate two years of physical presence in Canada in every five yr period" to remain PR.

First of all “mabrook” to KU & her family on obtaining PR status.
I would say it is a well thought out decision by KU.
Primary reason for most of us to leave our home country is to have a better earning abroad and whereby a better standard of living in a modern environment which is not possible in India given current conditions. To be frank, financial conditions really play an important role in any family. I don’t think it is a bad idea if KU stays back in Kuwait for money.
Children getting into bad company, becoming pregnant, etc… can happen anywhere in the world. I think if the parents properly guide their children with a watchful eye in the early age and later groom them for advancement in a given path, a 17+ year old teenager can really make judgments as to what is good/bad for him/her in the life. If you blame Canadian system for this, let me tell you that modern Indian cities are no different. Probably in India we haven’t reached the stage of young girls bringing-up children without knowing the father of the child and the same could be said about desi girls living abroad - desi girls know social stigma attached to it. Whether it is in India or abroad, generally our desi children respect our culture and they avoid getting bad names for them and their family. Do our children refrain from indulging in pleasure activities including, midnight parties, once in a while liquor, sex out of bound of marriage, etc…? I don’t think so. If you happen to visit a public park or a night club in one of metros, you will find what young collage going children (late teens/early 20s) are doing at the back of their parents. Are we any better compared to West? Yes, we respect our parents, family, neighbors and society. Also our children are little more sacred of us compared to west. This is my opinion, you can have a different opinion though.
I think in our modern age, with regard to K U’s child, disparity of not being physically there in Canada with the child can really be reduced by daily contact through internet chatting/email and telephone calls. Periodical visits to each other will make the child to stay on track and focused on objectives. KU knows her daughter’s character better and if KU is confident in her daughter that is it, I don’t find any reason for worries.
Good luck to KU and her family.
Very wise decision kuwaituser. But if I were you I would monitor every phase of your status and make sure your duaghter gets status of her own and then would ease down on my PR.
Given the salary that you and your husband are drawing, it is clear that you do not need a new lease of life in Canada but can build strong foundations for your retirement in future.
So carry on with your jobs in Kuwait, please!
All the best!

Thanks Me2Canada for your advise.
You have mentioned that I should monitor every phase of my PR status to make sure that my daughter does not loose her status.
Could you please elaborate on this point, Is there any particular way to monitor my PR status, does'nt my daughter become eligible for citizenship if she stays in Canada for three years out of the four years, even if I loose my PR status.
Dear KU,
Good Article. Last year when I applied I had same thoughts which you have mentioned in your article.
As quoted by belle

We strive so hard for our children to give them the best but in the end do they give back to their parents. Don't make a mistake by leaving her on her own.

I have two daughters. Studied in Gulf. One is now doing medicine (total cost 25 lakhs) in India. Other after completeing XII secured admission in ECIAD Vancouver. She also got selected in NIFT New Delhi. Because of the reason stated by belle we have decided to let her study in India. Who knows what will happen after 15 years. Live in present. Enjoy life in Gulf as with kind of money It is not bad. And with money saved in Gulf we can have better of best life in India even after corruption / problems etc. Do we require pension? We can afford to have best medical treatment in INdia at cost. We do not know what is destined for us. Also do your best for child but do not expect too much in return.
You rightly taken SIN cards and visited Canada and seen it for yourself. I will do the same thing to have the concluisive end to my immigration process. However I feel Canada is good for younsters / young coples under 30 who can struggle and come up in life and not for GULF expats who have no threat to their jobs for next few years.
Regards
SunilfromDelhi,
Thank you for your views. Canada is definitely good for children. You are lucky to get a seat for 25 L. Now the donation/fees have gone up double. My daughter was also planning on taking medicine in India before our PR came through. However, since we have got the PR status, we decided it is better for her to join university in Canada rather than study medicine and then look for an opportunity in Canada.
Dear Kuwaituser I am really impressed to read your post here and it was really great to know that you analysed Canada in such a short time with all perfect ideas. I am here for about 6 years with no satisfaction and I wish if I could have the opportunity to serve in the middle east. I will really appriciate if you can send me some information how to get a job there. I am a financial and marketing person with all my life spent in financial institution in India before coming here. I will wait for your mail at email with regards
