Hello All,
We are moving from USA to Canada and trying to figure out where to rent apt/condo in GTA. We are both IT professionals ( Big Data and QA) would mostly be working as IT contractors. Not looking for Full time jobs for first few years in Canada.
We would like to cover 2 areas with most IT jobs. We know most IT jobs are near downtown area but not sure if 2nd area with most IT jobs is North York or Mississauga.
If it's North York then we will look for apt/condo around Sheppard/Yonge. If it's Mississauga then we will rent somewhere around Kipling and Islington subway stations.
Appreciate if someone can point us in right direction.
Thanks !!
1) Down Town
2) North York.
3) Islington-Kipling
Got That.
Now to the nitty-gritty. What do you need as Infrastructure, speed, quantum? Then the area for occupancy. 1BHK, 2BHK Or larger area to conduct your operation plus additional space to store your personal belongings too. The budget in CAD, the parking spots, near-ness of grocers etc., Then enters your preference to a particular location over the other.
I would suggest that you concentrate on staying in ONE Central location and then commute to it. Unless you want it to be at a walking distance from work, which means you be the Johnny on the spot to decide, which means you take up temporary residence and then spread your wings. You have ample time to decide the same after landing a job. (FT/PT)

Sheppard Yonge :
Newer area.
Smaller condos/ apartments
Better schools
Less Indian stores
More urban
-------------------
Kipling / Islington
Bigger apartments
More mature neigborhood
Proximity to Mississauga / Brampton -Desi hotspots
Not sure about schools.
Hard to say which one has more jobs between Mississauga / North York.. My take is Mississauga, although Sheppard / Yonge is in the middle giving a proximity to Scarborough/Markham jobs also.
If you decide Sheppard / Yonge, Mc Gee is a good school. If Etobicoke, look at Princess Management - Royal York apartments and Martnigrove Eglinton apartments .. Both in proximity of good schools and nice well maintained units.
