I have applied for my parent's citizenship in July 2017. Their PR card expired in December 2017. Should I applied for PR card or just wait for citizenship. They do not wish to travel at this moment.

Here are my two bits on the subject matter. Since your Parents applied for their Passports and the processing is still in hand, you are sure of getting a call by June of 2018 for a swearing-in ceremony, and will receive the same in July of this year. Being the Summer months at that time of the year, there could be a slight delay. Also, it could be on Canada's Birthday too.

Now to the crunch, you do have all the papers that you need for the renewal of the PR Card on hand, if you pay the fees and proceed to get the same, it will not be made available to your Parents before August of this year. So, you lose.

Hence, DROP it, unless you expect a sudden trip. But you can also get the same through the Express route if you have a travel advisory from an Agent and it will cost you a few additional bucks. If this is not too taxing, then, please proceed with the expedited mode and acquire their PR Cards.

There are a lot of people, mostly seniors, who have waited and applied for Citizenship Papers and are without a Valid PR Card, here in Canada. For a few of them, the process is never-ending one. fh
