Hello Everyone,

I am from Mumbai, Business analyst by profession and have 7 years of BA experience majorly into Investment banking (IB). I have total of 10 years of experience which includes Middle office and back office operations (IB). I am currently enrolled for CCBA certification (IIBA). Did M.Com and Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Market (one year).
And my wife has done a Full time MBA (PG - Finance)+MCom. She now runs her own job consulting firm from home.

-Based on above details, could you please suggest me what is the scope for me or my wife finding a job in respective profession ?
-Which Provinces offer more opportunity specific to my job profile? I have cued in on New Brunswick (open for any province) , as Atlantic province are running PNP (NB currently closed for foreign national).
-I was looking at the data on CIC site and maximum # of PR issued were for NOC 2171 (2015 & 2016). Does that mean BA have a better probability of finding a job? What could be the struggle
- How do I network with people from my profession?, any BA on this Forum?

I would really appreciate you advice on the above queries.

Thanks in advance.

Your wife has next to nothing prospects in Canada. Both her MBA & MCom won't be recognized here.

She has basically become a home based job recruiter, where she gets a commission for placing clients in various firms. So mostly like a Human Resources professional.

These type of jobs are mostly given to WHITE people in Canada, as job seekers are more comfortable dealing with them and understand their accent.

You also don't come here till you finish CCBA from IIBA. That's an international BA certificate, so it will be recognised over here.

But the rest of your Indian education like PGD in Financial Market & M. Com has NO value over here.

How much are both of you combined making in Aamchi Mumbai after tax i.e NET income ? Based on that I will tell you whether its worth it to come here or not.

Both of you are working in your respective professions in Mumbai. So don't give that up to come and work pay check to pay check in some low level job in Canada, where neither your expertise, skills, qualifications, experience or education is recognised.

If you are living between Andheri & Churchgate on WR or even between Thane Station to VT ( CST )on CR in Mumbai, don't bother coming here.

If you are Middle middle class or Upper Middle class in Mumbai, don't bother coming here. If you are lower middle class only then think of Canada.

If you have an ownership flat in Mumbai, 100 % don't come here. But if you are renting in Mumbai, & you are lower middle class, maybe you can think of coming here.

You don't network here based on your profession. You network here based on your Race. White people don't want to have anything to do with you. Same with Chinese people and Black people.

So basically you will just have some Desi network & friends, most of whom are cab drivers, truck drivers, warehouse/factory workers, retail store clerks, security guards, McDonalds workers etc. You will find lot of Indian MBA's, BA's , CA's, Engineer's, Doctor's among them. So network with them.

Thanks for the reply.

-What is the kind of salary range should I expect? (Based on IIBA certification & exp.)
- For a BA role, do you suggest any specific Province?
- And learning french (me & wife) will help? Do Canada require expert level french
-What kind of jobs could my wife expect, if she has to work?
-Do you have any idea about the day care cost and how are they?
-Taking Canadian citizenship and then going back to India.....How is it beneficial?
- where can I network with the BA's, Could you suggest any sites?

For a BA General market is 60k-100k depending on industry. I presume you would be about 70-75k. There are some Indian companies that could help get your first break. After a few years you can start contracting.
Check glassdoor.ca for salary ranges.

Agreed, do your iiba if you can. Not end of the world if you can't. Domain knowledge will be key too. Market is good but depends on your communication skills. Agile is big now too.

For any degrees from India you can get credits for course done and equivalent degree evaluation here. Depends on what you want to pursue.

Opportunities for BA for financial and health are in Ontario. I heard of opportunities in Alberta as well but not sure if it's only oil and gas domains .

French not needed unless you want to work for government or Quebec. But always an advantage.

I am not sure what your wife's experience is so cannot comment.

Day care is expensive so you will need to see if it makes sense for wife to stay at home or work part time.

As you may notice, you will find people with all sorts of experience with the system. Though i will agree it is a struggle moving to a new country. If you have any specific questions please feel free to ask.

Right now only 3 things are guaranteed for you, if the 3 of you come to Canada.

Rest are all a hit or miss - like job in your field for both of you, settling down, networking, social life, professional life etc. Some immigrants do well here, but MOST don't.

3 Guaranteed things :

1. $ 533 (CCB ) + $ 113 (OCB) = $ 646 per month from Canadian gov. for your Kid.

2. FREE education for your Kid up to Grade 12 .

3. FREE health care / medicare for ALL of you. Any doctor, any hospital, any medical test, any surgery, any operation will be free.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A. WELFARE ( Optional ) - $ 1,100 for a family of 3

B. Food Banks for free food ( Optional )

C. Subsidized housing ( Optional ) - Usually a big waiting list for it .

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another thing you might want to look into is WELFARE from the Canadian gov. But first your settlement funds have to be ALMOST exhausted before you can apply for welfare.

For a family of 3 you can't have more than $ 5,500 in your bank, otherwise you can't apply for WELFARE. So bring the money down to that level before applying for welfare.

There is a reason why they ask you to come with SETTLEMENT funds, so that you can't apply for welfare right from day one. The settlement funds has nothing to do with your settlement in Canada. Its to protect Canada, so that you can't apply for welfare. They are very smart that way.

You can get about $ 1,100 in WELFARE from the gov. for a family of 3.

Also FOOD banks will give you free food once a week. Depending on how much you eat, the food might not last a week, so for 2-3 days you will have to buy groceries from your pocket or go hungry for a couple of days.

Welcome to Canada !

Right now your income can be :

1. $ 1,100 per month Welfare aka Social Assistance from the Government.

2. $ 646 per month for your kid aka Baby bonuses aka Child benefits.

You can also do cash jobs on the side and not show it the government, so they don't cut it from your welfare. Basically welfare fraud, but you gotta do what you gotta do to Survive and put food on the table for your family & roof over their head.
