Looking for some advise how to get some help for elder person's care at home for few weeks. Are there any health workers available at a cost or no cost, few hours a day to assist in daily routine.
If help is needed with activities of daily living, you can consider hiring personal support worker and you can look for ads in Kijiji, craigslist or search for agency who deals with support workers, etc. Also consider contacting your family doctor and hospital nearby to see if any kind of support programs are available.

You will also need a friend or a neighbour to help and assist, if you want to ..cut corners. Then again I am not in the know how of your needs and the what it calls for from the person who needs the care.
You can expect to pay $20/Hr. and say an 8 hour shift/day for the duration of your absence.
Hiring a personal care worker through an agency or privately can cost $20 to $30 per hour. Some agencies will offer cheaper rates with more hours. Registered nurses cost $40 to $69 an hour. A full-time, live-in caregiver can cost $1,900 to $3,500 a month, plus room and board. However, note that round-the-clock care may require two or three full-time caregivers. Labour laws which vary by province, have rules about maximum daily hours of work, overtime pay and time off.
You might also need a 'FITBIT' also plus a smart phone on constant charge too.

Hope this helps you a little.
FH.
There are volunteers who either drop in and check once a day may be 15 minutes or longer. A few do the 'PAL' Services and talk to you over the phone at fixed time once a day. They also remind the patient about the meds to take and how good they feel etc.,
Then there are HIGH SCHOOL Volunteers who need their required volunteer hours and the school near by will cater to your request. Please contact the PRINCIPAL and get the details from him if such a service is available from them? They only visit and take care of the welfare of the patient. NO WOK.
Meals on wheels is one more service. But No Chicken Biriyani and NAN services as yet. They also used to have 'Bootleg' for the thirsty ones. That is for another day. The best is your own neighbor and friends and relatives who are free to drop in and help on occasions. fh.
