Don't go in for a Refurbed Laptop - its just not worth it ! You might end up with a lemon u wont forget in a hurry.

Dell service is the best in Canada - I have already replaced everything that ever did hitch a bit from my Inspiron 8500 - Powerpack,Keypad(dropped Coke on it ;) ) Wireless router( was making a bit of a noise).
Just changed the motherboard too ( was acting funny) - they sent me an empty box by courier & everything was repaired & returned in 3 days !

I'm planning to buy another 2 yrs of RTD(return to depot) service !

You will need to keep two things in mind.

1. Dual Voltage. Make sure that your laptop operates at 110v.
2. Warranty.

If you have decent processor ( I mean P4 series) then you should bring it across and i am sure it will be useful for another one years easily. If its PIII then i would suggest getting one here. But i would suggest a branded laptops. Toshiba being top followed by IBM.

Dell 2400 2.4 Crapelon $389 Free Shipping

Yup that's right...Dell is offering free shipping again on "select desktops". You're not going to be playing the latest games on this computer:

http://www1.ca.dell.com/content/pro...SDT1&l=en&s=bsd

(strip down all options to get $389), but it is a decent price for a computer for general office duties/web surfing or a computer for your mom/dad. Free shipping until July 8. Or if you're especially cheap, use the FRENCH configuration to get price down to $364!

As far as laptops are concerned I would highly recommend Centrino processor laptops with integrated wireless LAN (G). There are a few branded ones available for around $2000 including taxes and shipping which is still much cheaper than prices in India.

Also you can check out http://www.ebay.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK for some cool laptop deals with P3 processors which are not too bad...

Never buy a centrino with integrated wifi :). that sucks. Its always better to get a wifi card in a pcmcia slot my friend . BTW Dells have no problems and lately Toshiba has slipped down from being a top performer. U want a laptop get a Dell. IBM or a Compaq.

Don't buy any computer pc or laptop from any chinese stores. I had a experience buying last week a PC with my own fully loaded harddisk drive . I used computer for a while and when i got my internet connection , i asked that guy to fix up the modem, And you won't believe he deleted my my documents folder, datafiles, emails and other softwares . I specifically told him not to touch. next day he calls me and tells that my computer cannot be fixed and I need to buy all new softwares. I bought my computer back home and found everything was missing which was my work of last three years back home. Just to sell some new softwares he played the trick. Beware of such suppliers, Never leave any computer with those people. Also it is hard to find a proper pc technician, the best ever solution most of pc technicians have is format the system , and reload everything. Better look for decent experienced indian suppliers, otherwise you might land up paying more and more if you are hardware illeterate.
