Hi

Presently I use a Dell Latitude-D600 laptop for office use.
Is it advisable to buy a laptop (same model as mentioned above) before landing in Can, or should I buy it after I land there?

What is the approx. price over there (of the model as mentioned above)?

Thanks

try the above link out.

You have to compare where you are coming from US or ME or Asia to compare the prices
thanks

1) dont forget the 15 percent tax here
2) dont forget the local warranty issues

You would get similar laptop from Dell (they only sell it online and ship directly from USA and you have to pay around $100 extra for shipping and handling charges) for about $1500 including operating system (Windows XP home) and the total cost including shipping & tax could be around $2,000.

However, you can get some cheaper but equally good or better note book from Canadian Manufacturers like MDG or from shops like future shop and best buy etc. Most of the times they keep these things on special and some time will give you either printer or router or carry bag along with the note book.

Since the technology keep on changing and updating, I would say you should buy the stuff here as you would get warranty etc. but if you already own a note book and is working fine for you, then you can bring the same with you.

Faisal, has mentioned about another company which specializes in 'refurbished' stuff and you can also look into same if you want to save some money.

dell d600 is a new model...with p4 and mobile technology.
if u already have it then why do u want to buy a new one here and pay in dollars?

all u need to verify is that dell will cover it for warranty incl parts here in canada (becoz dell products are shitty and genrally breakdown within a year or 2).

I'm quite happy with my IBM Stinkpad. And yeah, I've heard a lot of complaints about Dell too, however last week a friend of mine was telling me how happy he is with his. I guess its all relative.

Thanks for the information. The laptop is office property and therefore I will buy another one there only.
How good are the refurbished ones? Any ideas?
