Hi Friends,
Moving to Toronto on 10 December . I would like to know about forest hill south as a area to live in .
1. Are there any Indians settled here?
2.I have two sons 20 and 14 ,elder one is in Uoft downtown and younger one in 8 th grade,
how is forest hill senior and junior school for Indians? It has Fraser ranking of 9.8.
3.Forest hill suits our budget and convenience , but dont know anything otherwise.
4. I am planning to rent a 2 bedroom apartment for 2100 all inclusive. Is it a good deal?
5.St Claire west subway is 3 mins away , suits all of us .
6. any suggestions are welcome (pros and cons)
7. Next option is Deer Park (suggestions are welcome)
Thanks a lot.........
we are going to be working from home and the apartment is walkable from subway , which my son is going to using to get to uni.
My only concern was the school ....since it is really going to be a big change .
I want to know if the schools are safe (bullying etc)
So if there are few Indian children ,it will be little comfortable for the the little one.

A Delhite in Toronto
After your talking to you , will more or less try and settle there .
Depending on the availability of the apartment there.
Thanks a lot.
I have worked on a few houses in Forest hill. It is a very rich white's area with pockets of middle level people.
As Future guy told you, 2000 $ for an Apartment is a rip off (even in that area).
The schools will be nice. Not populated by the refuees and a section of people who do drugs and have guns. But it will be populated by whites who have been spolit by money.
If I was in your situation, I would also try to like in that area or Rosedale, Davisville, Rotal York etc,,. Rosedale and Davis ville are also high end places.
Avoid Victoria park, Scarborough and even Islington.
If you are OK from working from home or if you are comfortable with working in downtown (IT, Banking and Finance, it is OK.)
Some of the Desi's in CD live in Vaughan which is a high class Italian area. But it is in the subrubs and you need a car to live in those areas.
