Hello,
Share your experience with Yoga or any other flexibility regime you are following. Its time for me to revisit my health from all angles including
1. Food and healthy eating.
2. Endurance build up.
3. Strength build up.
4. Weight loss.
5. Flexibility.
Other than Food, there is no order
Hearing about different types of Yoga including traditional one, Hot Yoga ?
Is it necessary to sign up with a yoga studio/instructor, or buy a decent DVD and learn yourself or do a combination of both such as learn from a trainer for 6 months and practise on your own.
Thanks,
J...

The weak died on the way,
Only the strong arrived.

Sharing my experience about food..
I am technician and I have to do physical work . My weight was 85kg , height 175 cm . I was looking healthy but feel so tired at my work and at home also .
I came to know about new diet system and followed it .
Morning no breakfast , no water ... Fasting up to noon . After 12:00 I take green juice and salad . after that I drink water when ever I feel thirsty . In dinner I take 60% salad / raw vegetables and 40% cooked food .
No milk , coffee , tea .
It was very difficult for first 2 weeks but after that it was easy / acceptable to me . My weight reduced by 7 kg in 3 months . I feel energy , My sleep time reduced and quality improved .

There is a documentary on Netflix called "Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead." It is about a man who is suffering from obesity and multiple illness discovering path to health by doing juice fasting (drinking only fresh juice of vegetables and fruits) and motivating others to do the same.

Yoga may be good for flexibility and meditation but as far as aerobics or burning calories is concerned , it may not be that beneficial.
Healthy eating and exercising ( even walking etc for the same amount of time as you do Yoga) may be more effective. Likewise the breathing exercises in Yoga are unique.
Not to counter RC but his example reminded me of a man in India , a scientist or some one else who would drink only lauki (Indian gourd) ka juice ... He died after a few months.... RC s example is different as the man drank only fresh fruit & veggies juice which is a very good thing .... I am sure it may be better to eat the fresh fruits & veggies as that would get the fibre as well.
And then recently I came across a news where parents kept on praying for 2 hours while their diabetic son suffered and died of starvation .... They refused to accept his diabetes diagnosis... They are charged .
Faith healing and alternative strategies may be a good thing , but may not be an alternative to the time tested and proven regular strategies.
Eat healthy (so difficult in today's life) and exercise regularly (moderate 30mins + ) is the best mantra... of course alcohol & smoking are proven banes and should be avoided.

Due to a sedentary life style , I started to have muscular pain and lack of flexibility and increased sugar level a few months back ...
Upon telling my Physician that I don't get time to exercise he told me that Time is nothing but priorities in life. I started walking 30 minutes every day after lunch and became selective about my food .
With in just 2 months I have felt a change - I am more flexible than before , must have reduced some weight but more importantly feel strength in my muscles despite the fact that I don't work out heavily ...just 30 - 40 minutes walking .
Its easy ...Try it ... Summers are beautiful in Canada !!!
