Hi all,
We are a family of 4, and currently in Dubai. Hearing of the quality of life, I'm contemplating to move to Canada. Could you guys, who "have been there done that" advise me? when is the best time to move there?
thanks!
Sidman

Any time is good to come here. Better May as the summer starts then. Hiring decisions are done Jan. but it will be peak winter.

What is your profession? Can you get a job here? Why do you want to leave a good city like Dubai to go to a frozen land?

Are we putting the cart before the horse here

OP, you mentioned you are comtemplating moving here, should you not be inquiring about Canada first to help you make a decision (why to move) rather than asking the last Q first i.e. when to move.

TK has hit the nail on the head with his Q's. Keep in mind, grass is always greener on the other side. I'm not trying to discourage you from moving but suggesting that you do your due diligence.

I suggest you first research about moving here before asking about the best time to move, unless you've already done your research.

Been there done that !!

The best time to move here is May when the snow has melted and the summers have started. By October when the weather starts to pack in , you should be settled in an apartment and a job (hopefully).

We have a lot of people who have moved here from Dubai / ME and I have not seen one regretting the move , amongst the people I know (except may be TK) ... And these have been Engineers , CAs , software guys who came for their kids and permanence and freedom which Canada offers along with good prospects if you are qualified ( may not apply to everyone though)

Just for starters, the Main Applicant must qualify to get entry into Canada. The others get sponsored by the main applicant. I am sure you are the Main Applicant.

To get qualified, you must have a good command of the Languages plus your education and a good chunk of dough, which will be $22,603* and these are a few important points. Also you must have good health and pass a Medical too.

It currently takes about SIX months for the applicant to get selected. But you must be in a class that the companies in Canada are looking for, to get an entry into the POOL. All of this is based upon you being ready yesterday. If it is going to take some more time for you to gather all of the required materials, then please add that delay to this SIX Months of time required for processing the paper work. That will throw you into a period past 2016. You will have ample time to decide where you want to settle and when it is that you want to get into Canada etc., during this waiting period.

WE ALL CAN HELP YOU FILL THE PAPERWORK and you can depend upon it on this CD website.

Now please tell me when will you be ready to apply after you read this response?

I know, these are the steps all of us had to take and then sort our qualifications to compete in the market place and get an entry level job and move gradually to settle down and spread our wings.

It is not when to get entry into Canada,... How to get entry and find a job and settle down as comfortably as you should. All the rest will fall into place. Now you are getting to know the jigsaw puzzle and how all the pieces fall into its right location. That is called Step-by-Step Process. Hey, you came to the right place to ask.

Hope this helps you a little.

FH.
