Hello : When we travel anywhere (say India) or say our parents who are on PR go back to India, we will need to buy travel insurance for a day ? Day of travel ? Can we buy for a day ?
What do people do ?

Aashu,
I have a Membership with CAA, and they have a small coverage for short visits out of the country. ( May be just a coverage when we cross these local borders) Also, they might cover only upto a certain age too. I am not saying join them, but there are coverage s that are given to you just being a member of that group.
Likewise, if you are traveling and use the Credit Card to purchase a ticket or for your travels, they also provide a basic coverage, when your age complies with their age limits. So, Please check the same.
AMEX has a policy for the card holders for the travel, So also RBC too. It is worth a call just to inquire if they still have it for their clients and the costs.
Also there are Global Insurers for the EXPATS and NRI's too. I will explore the same at a later date and time. They provide a policy that is far and beyond the requirements as it is NOT based upon the country you live. The coverage is UNIVERSAL.
Just in the passing, if your Parents do live in Ontario and they are OHIP Card holder, it is worthy of note that there is a miniscule of coverage through the OHIP for all of us and it is nice to call/or search the websites for it.
Hope this helps.
FH.
You can buy private insurance, there are many, just Google or contact an agent. They would have some minimum number of days that you need to buy.
