Hey Everyone,
Trust everyone is doing good.I will share some brief detail about myself before I ask any query. I am a software developer by profession, Having around 3 years of experience in Asp.Net technologies and since 2.5 years I have been working as a Document Image Analyst in Document Capture/Imaging Solutions (Using Prosar Aida). This also involves basic C# development.
Well, I have tried my level best in searching for any relevant work profile as a Document Image Analyst but have not come across anything major. Over, the period of time I realized that I am more interested in Analysis rather than development. But, since my experience has become so scattered that I am not able to see a future for my self as an IT professional.
Me and my husband have also applied for the PR of Canada. We are positive that we will get through. He is a BA by profession. My friend suggested me two things that I either do a 6 monthly course in Big Data ETL or learn an automation tool and then search for a job in canada. Its a decision that has to be made and I am still not sure on that. Being a developer I thought of researching on the scope of Automation testing first in canada, because I have heard that for a developer it is easier to get into an SDET sort of profile. Plus, as I heard that SDET's are also required to have a little analytical bent of mind so it convinced me more to get into this.
While I was researching for options as an automation tester in canada, I found extremely mixed reviews. Some say the demand of testers is not that great in Canada right now and some are very positive. This has simply added on to my confusion.
Can any one share some light on this?
If testing has a good future what tool will you guys sugget. I have been asked to do a certification is ISQTB and learn QTP. Since I am also a .net developer someone suggested that I should also learn NUnit which is used in WHite box testing.
By BA you mean Business Analyst i.e Systems Analyst ? Or Bachelor of Arts ?
If both of you are in IT, there is NO issue. You will both get jobs easily. Don't do anything special or special courses and just keep on doing what you are doing in India. When you come here, you will get a job in IT immediately.

Thanks for the reply. By BA I mean Business Analyst
I have tried searching for jobs on the basis of my current profile i.e. of a Document Image Analyst/Document Capture developer. I have not found anything relevant.
I did find two three jobs when I searched for Document Capture Developer but they were asking for an experience in a different tool( called Kofax Capture) hence the confusion.
So I decided to this course in Automation Testing to have a backup in case nothing works out.
I am also not sure about the level of competition there cause in India its too much. They expect you to be E=MC2.

In manual tester positions, especially in and around Toronto, sees a lot of resumes, so companies have a tough time who to call for interview.
Automation tester is different. There is scope. Competition starts reducing the more technical you get. As far as QTP is concerned, it would be mainly big companies who use it because of licensing cost. Lot of small to medium companies use Selenium (Java) for browser based UI automation.
If there are no jobs in you domain, you can switch domain. It is not like your C#, ASP.NET developer skills have become redundant.
