How is the public transport in Bangalore ? Like buses and Metro. Is it cheap, reliable and frequency decent ? I won't be driving, too dangerous for me. Won't hire a driver either, not worth it.

I am concerned about healthcare cost, hospitals, ambulance, food standards, hygiene, medical insurance too.

What about basic utilities like electricity, water, LPG gas cylinder, landline, cell phone, internet, cable . Are these connections easy to get.

What about the corruption and bribe situation on the ground. I understand its a way of life in India, so I will just go with the flow, no choice. What about safety and law and order ?

Hello !
I am Murali from Cochin / Trivandrum in Kerala. I am also known as TK.

Yes. It is possible to buy a flat in B'lore for 40-50Lkahs. You have to try the ORR where you can even buy a 3 cent land with a house for thie money.

Commuting is hell in B'lore. Public transport is there and it is good too. If you take the AC buses it is costly.

For cost of living b'lore is very high but you can also lead a cheepo life. You have various options. B'lore is the best place where you can work and earn a decent salaty.

Mangaluru I will not comment.

If you are looking at doing no job but living happliy I would recommend cochin or Trivandrum. In Trivandrum, rent is low and cost of living is very low but it has access to world class beaches in KOvalam and Varkala. Healthcare is also very good (free).

All the best.

Murali

Will language be an issue in Cochin or Trivandrum ? I don't speak any Tamil or Malyalam. I have heard Hindi is farely common in Bangalore and lot of ex NRI's and foreigners live there, due to IT.

Do I just speak in English with the average person on the street in Cochin and/or Trivandrum.

Hyderabad might not be a bad option, but Telgu might be an issue. Or Pune also I am looking at.
