Hi,

I am currently thinking of applying of candian PR. But want to understand how tough or easy its getting job in Canada from India. Will posting my CV on well know jobsite do the trick or more things needs to be done. I am 32 years old with 10 year of design & dev experience in java j2ee. Is there some specific technologies within j2ee thats quite popular in Canada IT more focused CV will give the edge over others. Which specific region in Canda has most demand. I want make a decision whether or not to apply for PR if chances are more for landing a job "is trying from Canada" rather than India. Is there anyone who has got a java j2ee job in Canada while sitting India with PR application was in process. Please advice.

Thanks
Sunny

If you are interested in the life of Canada, please apply for PR and come here.

Being in the software side and that too for 10 years or more, will get you atleast $ 18 an hour in 3 months of searching.

No one will ever offer you job while you are sitting in India, even if you have a PR. They need a phone number and the guarentee that you will visit them in 2-3 days for an interview.

This is also a short cut of settling in the USA later on (atleast after 5 years after landing in Canada).

Please go through Canadian job sites like Indeed. See how many jobs are there matching your profile. I am pretty sure you will be able to find something with 10 years of development experience in J2EE. If you can narrow down the companies, then you can go though Glassdoor to get an idea of what pay might be. Otherwise, Payscale also gives you an idea http://www.payscale.com/research/CA/Job=Java_Developer/Salary/0f413cbb/Java-J2EE

You will have to apply for PR and land in Canada for anything to work though.

Getting a job in Java domain is a cakewalk in Canada. However, the difficult part is to get here.

Try to see if you qualify for a PR by going through the eligibility criteria laid out in: www.cic.gc.ca.

Another option is to find a company to work for in India and try to get on-site here in Canada.

Thanks everyone for giving your inputs. I was reading about Canadian govt having rule called LMIA (Labour Market Impact Analysis) does it impact hi-tech industry like software or consulting or only blue collared workers are one impacted more. Which province or region has more opportunities for IT Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal ?

Express Entry is points based. You will get more points if you have a job offer. Generally speaking, it is not easy to find an employer willing to go through the hassles when you are living outside Canada. For giving you job offer, the company will most probably go through LMIA, etc.

You can apply and see how many points you have. If you are above cut off limit in your category and they are inviting people in your category, you will get an invitation for PR.

Thanks. So are you saying any prospective employer has to file LMIA to give me an offer to work in Canada. But once I am in Canada with PR any employer does not have file LMIA to hire me.
