My current home has an older model Honeywell thermostat installed, which lacks the ability to schedule a daily program. I am looking to get it changes, and seems like there are new smart thermostats. Along with the usual Honeywell 7-day programmable thermostat (100-150$), there are Nest and Ecobee3 - they are highly rated. Just wondering if CD's have experience with these and would love to get some reviews.

Thanks

Ecobee is on my top list and best seller . I have the same installed at my home and will not switch over with NEST or alike product .
It has high def screen that displays 7 days weather , humidity and few other things .
Does any analysis on usage of your HVAC .
Mobile app is user friendly .

P.S: Do not forget to pick Common maker with any Wifi enabled tstats if builder has not provided you 5 wires to Tstat ( very rare )

Thanks AshwaniG. Thats good to know. Did you get additional remote thermostats? The unit comes with base and an extra remote thermostat. Is that enough?

Also, Sorry I didnt fully get the last part. If my thermostat doesnt have the C wire, are you suggesting to run a cable from HVAC unit to thermostat. Th Ecobee does come with a power extender unit for unit without the C wire. Please explain.

Thanks

I opted the one without sensors and remote as I did not see any value .

Tsat basics :
Regular Tstats that run on two batteries are capable to operate furnace / AC on 4 wires .

All WIFI enabled Tstats work on 24 V that is drawn from the furnace . In order to get the power from furnace you have to either have 5 wires running from furnace to Tstat OR you need a common maker .

If basement is unfinished and you are handy than you can run NEW Tstat wire with 5 wires OR buy common maker as suggested earlier .
